Inspiration can come from so many places. As years pass, I find myself leaning into the nostalgia of home and what that really means to me over the passing of time.

Sometimes it’s the comfort of my couch and slow mornings drinking coffee on our back patio; the mornings rarely photographed and often taken for granted.

Other times it’s memories from growing up on an island with the smell of salt in the air and sand between my toes.

Today I was reminiscing on Isabela, Puerto Rico, and how there’s so much beauty that I never really stopped to admire when it was right in front of me. Now, as an adult, I can appreciate it in a different way. I love these images and how they make me feel when I look at them. The intricate rock formations and waves crashing against the shore.

I didn’t think much of it when I snapped the photo. Probably too consumed by the sun, or my fear of heights, or the beads of sweat trickling on my forehead from the heat. And yet, they transport me back to a moment, and honestly all I actually remember is how fresh the air was, and how accomplished we felt climbing over holes caused by erosion.

I think it’s such a great metaphor for wedding days… as all my musings seem to relate back to this one thing. Time is fleeting, but photos freeze it. What a gift.

The sun shined brightly on the plains of Virginia on a day that would come to mean much more than any other Summer day to Ashley and Jay.

It all started with a house buzzing with excitement that would soon flow into the gardens and, ultimately, throughout the dance floor.

They weaved in traditions inspired by their Korean heritage and moved to the beat of ‘As Long as You Love Me’ by the Backstreet Boys for their first dance… foreshadowing a truth about life and partnership and friendship that I think we can all hold close.

Earlier this year I set out to create a new website and brand that encompasses everything I feel about capturing wedding celebrations, the many ways in which the people I have the honor of photographing connect with their images, and how I believe I can uniquely serve couples on their wedding days.

I’m so thrilled that this project is finally in the ‘coming soon’ phase and I can’t wait to officially launch it on December 3rd. Here’s a little sneak peek of what’s to come.

A rebrand, to me, means new found clarity and an even more powerful foundation to serve my couples well.

It means setting in stone the type of work and level of service you can expect from both myself and my team on wedding days.

And above all else, it means sharing my values with you, so that when you choose me to capture these important moments, you know right away if we share the same way of seeing the world. No way is right or wrong, and the question simply is, do we place importance on the same things?

I’ve narrowed it down to family, friends (community), meaningful details, and your shared history with your loved ones at the heart of it all. People are always the primary focus. The details matter most when they mean something to you, so let’s make them count.

When D asked me to photograph their engagement party I knew I had to be there. Is it just me, or does it feel like summer flew by? Ready or not, fall is here!

Heading across the pond today to my favorite city for oysters and mimosas.

When I moved to Arlington from Capitol Hill I remained adamant that I’d still be living in “Washington DC.” If you’re a local, then you know those might be some fighting words 😂 but I do still consider myself based in The District, even if my zip code is technically in Virginia… for now.

What do you think? Do I need to start telling people I’m a Virginian or I live in the burbs? What’s the verdict?

These two beautiful souls made it official on Saturday, and what a gorgeous day it was! The words spoken about them were all about faith, knowing, kindness, and love. They told me in advance that the most important part of their day would be having their favorite people by their side, and it’s apparent that they will have the most amazing support system throughout their entire lives. What a joy it was capturing your love!

Amy & Al’s backyard wedding was my first wedding of 2021… and I’m still so moved by how the entire day felt like love.

My last session of 2021 was one for the books! Chereese and Matt have these smiles that light up the room, and I just love that their personalities shined so brightly in all of their photos. Plus, they’re basically duck whisperers (peep photo 2 to see what I mean 🦆)

Happy New Year to all of you out there! I took some extended time off to relax and prep for 2022, but man… it feels good to be back!

Feeling sentimental on this Friday afternoon. I’ve got one engagement session tomorrow (that I can’t wait for!) and then I’m planning to spend the weekend refreshing and recharging… which basically means binging .

It’s been a wild few days! We celebrated three birthdays: my brother, my niece, and one of our favorite pups, (go follow her, she’s the cutest!). I got to be there to watch my niece get her ears pierced for the first time, which is so crazy to me because I’ve had mine pierced since I was a baby (anyone else?).

I also got to photograph four beautiful couples on their wedding this month, and October ain’t over yet.

Fall is here, with all it’s beautifully golden foliage. Arelys and Justin said their vows this weekend surrounded by the changing leaves. Their intimate affair may have looked a little different than they envisioned, surrounded only by their closest family and friends and a camera live streaming their ceremony… but it was nothing short of perfect. These two met half way across the world, and the fact that they found each other and are building such a beautiful life filled with love, a focus on what matters, and lots of laughter is a testament to who they are as people.

Congratulations you two! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your day. I hope your honeymoon is a blast!
