This week, I traveled to the city for the Creative Space event, determined to capture the quintessential -bright lights, bustling streets, and long-exposure shots of traffic weaving through packed corridors. But what I found was something entirely different: an antithesis, a striking juxtaposition of deeply rooted traditions against the backdrop of modern urban life. The image of an Orthodox Jewish man, a symbol of deep tradition, casually smoking while strolling past an industrial backdrop felt like a seamless part of the city’s fabric. It reminded me that a true cityscape is more than architecture or motion-it’s a weaving of cultures, identities, and stories, each thread adding to the rich tapestry of urban life. This, too, is a cityscape.

Some find comfort in conversation, others in silent contemplation, each person present for a reason, each carrying their own hopes, disappointments, and dreams for what’s to come.

The outcome of this election feels heavy not just for those present, but for the entire country — a turning point that resonates deeply, stirring a mix of disappointment, hope, and uncertainty about the path ahead.

This is more than just a gathering; it’s a collective reckoning with what this result means for our future and for the values we hold dear. It’s a reminder of the shared aspirations that unite us, even as we face the reality of a hard-fought campaign that ended short of its goal. 📸📸 To be a Black woman in spaces like this, at a moment like this, is to feel both the weight and hope of our history.

I took this photo at the Harris Campaign concession speech at Howard University. Surrounded by the symbols of a nation we continue to push forward, I’m reminded of the journey we’re still on. Vice President Harris’s campaign wasn’t just about winning; it was about breaking barriers, defying expectations, and showing what’s possible for us, for all of us.

This seat feels heavy, sometimes lonely, because we know how rare our presence is in places like this. But as Black women, we never stand alone. We are here on the shoulders of the women who fought before us, with the strength of our sisters beside us, and with the dreams of the next generation lighting the path ahead. Every step we take matters. Every voice we raise counts. This campaign may not have ended in victory, but our journey is far from over.

Let this moment remind us that though we may feel alone, we carry a powerful legacy, and we are bound together by a purpose bigger than ourselves. The fight continues, and we’re still here, still resilient.
