❤️Merry Christmas from our family to yours! We hope you have a lovely celebration these next few days. 💚Our favorite lights this year were in Iceland where we spent a week marveling at nature, eating amazing food and immersing ourselves in a new culture. We also swam in hot springs and ate soup in the greenhouse of a tomato farm!

“I left you a note.”

At the Pop-Up yesterday I met someone who stopped by the flower stand in the fall. “It was my birthday and I needed a little pick-me-up. I left you a note.”

When we opened the Flower Farm Stand (3 years ago!) I put a pad of sticky notes and a pen inside. I figured someone might need something or have a question.

What happened was pure blessing. Folks left notes of thanks and encouragement and kindness.

They have brought me more joy than I can say, lots of smiles, the occasional laugh out loud and even a tear.

When I redecorated the stand for Christmas it was hard to take them down so I took a photo first before I added them to my stack. ( I keep every single one.)

Farming has proved to be exactly like the saying about parenting: “the days are long but the years are short.” It’s hard yet amazingly rewarding.

Thank you for being on this journey with me and for blessing me with your notes. They truly bring me joy. Sending joy to you this Sunday morning.

Beauty.
Are you like me, by chance, a person who stops for a beautiful sky?
A person who goes the long way bc I know I’ll pass pretty old homes?
A person who lives for color and finds energy in simply seeing a butterfly or hawk go by?
A person who relaxes at the sound of her partner’s voice?
A person who laughs in gratitude for the smelly children as they pile in the car?

It could be the kindness of a stranger or the generosity of a neighbor, beauty comes in tons of forms. All those forms do the same thing though.
They comfort.
They encourage.
They calm.
They remind us of our connectedness and string us together like twinkle lights.

These photos of 3 girls and the ornaments they made last Saturday at the farm brought me such encouragement. I hope the next generation is buoyed by beauty.
