It was during this time of introspection and reflection that Sussan felt a desire—a desire to create and share her creations with those around her. Given her background, interests, and artistic pursuits in graphic design, catering, event planning, creative directing, fashion design and coordination, she knew she had something special and that she couldn’t limit her talents by focusing on just one
area. Sussan wasted no time as her Los Angeles vacation quickly transformed into a passionate brainstorming session. Sussan realized that she had been inspired by a vast spectrum of experiences over the years—from her travels to the Far East to local galleries in her hometown. “Whenever I would browse through markets, galleries, and stores, I would get frustrated because I always found that there was something missing from each product. So, I decided to challenge myself and take things a step further by customizing products to my taste and style.”
While she was working on her Ph.D. in Art History, Sussan was energized and inspired by her thesis on the history of crowned jewels. “Not only did I love learning about the history of crowned jewels, but I started asking myself why I didn’t see any of the designs and styles in any of our current products,” says Sussan. “As I was doing my thesis, I developed a sense of yearning and nostalgia for the days of exuberance, embellishment, and elegance."
