My name is Matthew Lukoma Mpanga, I am an international student at Arkansas State University from the Republic of Uganda, a third world country in East Africa. I am pursuing a degree in Finance that I intend to use in the capacity of a financial analyst when I graduate. Upon coming to the United States, I have always had a passion for business and entrepreneurship and believed that my being here was going to be the start of me building my dreams. I am a son of two accountants that ventured into business and that has been my driving force for pursuing my finance degree. Going to college has its difficulties such as high tuition costs and expensive textbooks but I have been able to make it this far and been able to attain good results in my classes and also take part in internships that have given me a scope of corporate America and what I would be getting into after my graduation. I have had a strong will to succeed since the passing of my father in 2019 from cancer and I felt like I always had something to prove to his soul and to the world, to prove that I can live up to his expectations of me and surpass the level of success that he was able to attain. I believe the fire I have burning inside me for success is something everyone should have if they want to reap something substantial out of life and truly show God the magnitude of what His creation can achieve while on Earth.
The Royal designs scholarship is a n amazing opportunity to propel my plan of successfully completing my college degree at Arkansas state university and it truly would be appreciated. I believe in my abilities to utilize the opportunities that I have been given and see that life is more and bigger than myself, and every breathe I take has to be dedicated to being the best version of myself, and I believe this scholarship will propel that journey I am on.
