Join Cafe Feast @ Cape Mendocino Lighthouse, Mi Mochima, Delgada Pizza @ Inn of the Lost Coast, Chef Christy Augustine @ Surf Point Coffee + Bistro, Chef Erin Sheehan @ Mario's Marina Bar, and Gyppo Ale Mill at Southern Humboldt's Second Annual Holiday Dine Around in Shelter Cove on Friday December 15th at 4:00. Early enough to enjoy Shelter Cove's incredible sunsets!
Arrive at Cape Mendocino Lighthouse at or after 4:00 to pick up delicious and portable charcuterie cones for your first course prepared and served by Cafe Feast! This is also where you will pick up your tickets that you will need to bring with you on your progressive dining experience. The second starter will start at 4:30, the entree course will start at 5:10 followed by the dessert course at 5:50. This event is fun as a date night or enjoyed with a group. That's not all, each establishment (except the lighthouse which are very tight quarters, will have a local artisan selling handmade holiday gifts and many places will have live music). There are GF and Vegetarian options.

This photo sums up my wedding season, so much fun was had! I have the VERY BEST clients! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for including me in your special day. If it wasn’t for you I would never get to go to weddings. 😆 (Thanks friends, for eloping or deciding not to tie the knot). You all made me cry many happy tears hearing you exchange your vows, the traditions you brought to your union and the original ways you chose to honor each other. So much laughter too, hands down I heard some of the best speeches this summer. I still giggle when I think of some of the witty speeches. Good story telling is truly an art form. Or is it the alcohol? Anyways, lots of laughs!
I’m going to take some time off to turn one year older with my family and try to get some rest. I will be back to work on November 9th, so if you don’t hear back from me right away you will very soon. I will be doing a teeny bit of work on the second annual Dine Around which will take place in Shelter Cove on December 2nd so keep your eyes out for information about that. It’s going to be festive, fun and delicious!

Gyppo Ale Mill’s Lost Coast Fresh Hop Fest is less than a month away! We will be joined by It's Alive Kombucha Humboldt County, SeaQuake Brewing, Port O'Pints Brewing Co., Humboldt Cider Company, Northspur Brewing Co., Mad River Brewery and Tap Room, Trinity County Brewing Company, and 6 Rivers Brewery who are going to be debuting their fresh hop beverages made exclusively for the LCFHF using fresh hops from Alexander Valley Hops.
This is a fundraiser for KMUD - Redwood Community Radio, Inc. so we are looking for volunteers and sponsors to help make this super fun event raise lots of money for the best radio station out there that we are lucky to call our own.

Bear Harbor was my backyard growing up, where we rode our horses, gathered mussels, dove for abalone and as I became a mother we celebrated many Mother’s Days there. What was originally going to be a Small Plate Fest has morphed into a Small Plate Pop Up, and with Chef Christy as the featured solo chef with her amazing menu, I don’t think there will be any complaints. 😋
The prices are being set as I type, but will range from a few bucks up to closer to $20. I will update with the exact prices ASAP. Admission is free to attend and enjoy the ambiance. Ray Bevitori and George Mooney will be playing setting the mood. There will be beer from and wine from available for purchase. We accept cash or cards.

My second favorite thing after love is food, so I am super excited to bring the first small plate food fest to Southern Humboldt at the Garberville Town Square. I am looking for local chefs and bakers to participate, each creating 3 to 4 elevated small plates (and I mean elevated cuisine, not infused, this is a family friendly event 😉). Let's showcase all that Southern Humboldt has to offer! This will be an event for all budgets. Today is my (our) 16th wedding anniversary, so I thought it would be fun to tell a little bit about myself. I was married once before. The marriage didn’t work out, but I got the sweetest prize out of it, my first daughter. When I got married the second time, I wanted to do everything different. Instead of a formal wedding we ran away to Tahoe with a couple of friends and eloped in a casino. Totally off brand for me, but love is a state not a place. It was one of the best days of my life. Simple, stress free, and all the feels.
We decided to celebrate with our family for our 10 year anniversary. We rented a historic church that was turned into a home, said a few things to each other as an informal ceremony, mainly just me to him as he felt emotional after listening to me and forgot what he was going to say (this is a great reason to write vows down!).
D. Perkins Events was always my business and my husband would help here and there, more in the background, or building things. As my business has evolved you are almost certain to see him at one of my events. He has stepped into much more of a partnership role and you might even see him alongside me setting a dessert bar or a dining table, which would have been a funny thought years ago as he seems like much more of a manly man. Whatever that is, because the man that he is and the love, absolute support, care and respect that he gives me, makes him much more of a real man than just being a macho man. Together we have created a business offering many handcrafted personalized touches. Me more on the design end, and him more on the technical end, but this guy has a design eye too. Sometimes packing for weddings can feel like preparing to go camping and we may or may not drive each other nuts while doing it, but we have a great time working together and enjoy every aspect of it. 🩷 Happy anniversary to us! Sadly, he’s gone for work right now, but I’m hoping that we get to see each other tonight to celebrate.

We get it! Our snow pack is silly compared to snow country, but living in a temperate rain forest this is unprecedented snow.
