Doug Daze of Summer 2023 was fantastic! I got emotional a few times, overcome with joy and happiness reflecting on the team effort and how it paid off and from the satisfaction of seeing the fest team grow. It's so rewarding putting smiles on all the faces of attendees. I am so thankful to the volunteers especially, and to all those people who attended, who chose our fest over other events occurring simultaneously. Every one of the bands was so great too and Michael Peltzer did an awesome job on sound, as did Dylan Dorrell managing the stage.
I have to give some more specific acknowledgement. This year's fest was a success as a result of some hard work and assistance, both labor and loaned materials and property, from a few people:
Doris Rucker generously let us use her property for the fest and it was ideal. Thanks so much Doris!
Monica Cissell worked dozens of hours doing lots of things from volunteers coordinating to running to the store for hardware and strategizing with me and a lot of organizing and stressing with me for months and working for weeks on building the stage. Thanks Babe!💜
Charlie Combs, Realtor, was our sole financial sponsor but also worked hard for hours helping to build the stage and other set up and clean up things and several trips to Newton.
We also had help building the stage from Grant Boesen, Jason Tuebner and Mark Hansen, hard work in the heat requiring multiple trips to Newton.
Cyd Sandlin let us borrow several pieces of vital expensive equipment and volunteered too.
Scott Summers loaned us stage lights and set them up too.
Pat and Linda Slimmer came Thursday and helped set up the stage and other things and stayed Late Sunday to clean up. Pat did a bunch of mowing and whatever he could.
Anna Jo brought lots of stuff for the band green room area. She also suggested the open mic.
Brian Bellerive helped with so much, from stage and sound to fence work.
Jason and Aimee Riegel brought several pieces of equipment and volunteered too.
Haley Perry and Jaybone gifted us walkie talkies and Jay Bone volunteered too.
Duck's Discs and Joseph Wooldrich loaned us disk golf baskets. Laura Prelle, Karen Frye and John Simmons loaned co****le.
Thank you so much everyone! And thanks to all the other volunteers too:
Jessica Soto, Joseph Wooldridge, Chelsey Chapman, Karyn Watson, Kelby Freeman, Maddie Freeman, Jay Bone, Brian Tiemeyer, Ken McCart, Mary Wilson(Hi mom!) and Laura King.
I'm sure I've left someone out but everyone's efforts were so appreciated.
Thanks again, it was wonderful!
Doug
