Mark & Kelsey, where could I even begin with them?! I loved how intentional their day was, and Tess with Sugar Bliss Event Coordinating executed everything so beautifully. Kelsey sourced the coolest details for her big day, including the pearl cape that was UNREAL paired with her wedding dress. The couple shared their own vows that left everyone crying and laughing and then snuck away for a cocktail next door. They shared alone time and quality time with their favorite people the whole day and we couldn't be happier that we got to witness it. Thanks for sharing your special celebration with us!

✨2 Years of Sugar Bliss ✨

Wow…the things we have accomplished and learned the past 2 years, both professionally and personally!

As many of you know, we both spent most of this last year pregnant! Since pregnancy kicked our butts physically, we were able to think up and implement so many process improvements for our couples and vendor teams!

Taking time to streamline your back end processes and tools is not always the most glamorous…but man, has it made a difference in the experience we provide to our couples and the vendors we get to work with!

We are so excited to be kicking off another Sugar Bliss year!

✨Giveaway and free Tips✨

We will not be attending the bridal expo as vendors this year…but we still wanted to give some free tips for making the most of your expo experience!

Here is what you need to know/bring:

•Labels: name, wedding date, phone, email. Pretty much every vendor or contest will require you to write down all this info. Being able to slap a sticker down instead of rewriting all your info over and over will be more efficient!

• 3 different colored file folders and sticker dots. The sticker dots will be used to put on the top corner of each flyer you get from vendors. Each color will represent a different level of interest based on your conversation with that vendor.
For example:
💚Green- means you are very interested and want to keep them in mind.
💛Yellow- you liked them but aren’t really sold. You could do without.
❤️Red- this vendor wasn’t for you or you have no need for this vendor!

Then as you go you can separate your different dotted papers into separate file folders.

•Don’t eat before! There are so many yummy vendors and you will be full after all the samples!

•Make a list of vendors you are still needing to book. And have a game plan of the ones you are willing to lock in on the spot! Some vendors offer extra discounts for booking at the expo!

•Bring an update calendar to schedule meetings with vendors you like. Scheduling while you’re there takes one step out of the process for you!

Fun Fact: Tessa had a family emergency literally 10 minutes before this shoot was supposed to start. We had to pivot and reschedule the shoot so Tess could head to the ER for her daughter. (Shout out to .photo for being flexible)

But what if this happens on your wedding day?! Yikes 😳

Even wedding vendors have personal emergencies or things that come up. Unfortunately, emergencies and sickness are things out of our control. We can, however, control how we handle/cover those situations.

So how do you, as a bride or groom, know your vendor will show up and execute the job you hired them for on your big day?! What can you do to cover your bases when selecting reliable vendors?

PRO TIPS:

✨review their cancellation policies in the contract. What happens in the event that the vendor has to cancel? Pay close attention the how far away from the wedding date the vendor is allowed to cancel their services.

✨do they list back ups in case of an emergency on wedding day? How many and are they reliable?

✨do they keep proper documentation of your wedding day details and agreements in case they do have to pass off duties to a back up.

These are all key things you’ll want to address with your vendors during your consult with them!

Bailey and I are spending thanksgiving up north this year with family and last night we had the chance to chat about how incredibly thankful we are this year. We can’t believe how blessed we have been/will be! To name a few of those things we are thankful for:

✨our business: this business, that started as a “side gig” for two friends has grown into a full blown, legit LLC.

✨our couples: we have been so fortunate to have been able to work with some of the most amazing and kind couples this year. We never dread a work day and we know that wouldn’t be the case if our couples were not our kind of people.

✨our friendors: we have said it before and we will say it again…the wedding vendor community is AMAZING! We appreciate all the referrals, affirmation and genuine friendships we have received.

✨our growing families: Sugar Bliss would absolutely not be successful without the support of our husbands, parents and siblings! Our husbands hold down the fort at home and are always onboard to do whatever they need to in order to help us build this business. And of course, thankful for our healthy babes we are currently growing.

Thankful for the lives we live 💕 we hope you all enjoy some family time and turkey this week!

Let’s talk about what our coordination package actually includes. While we use the term “day of coordinator”, we are far more involved than just DAY OF! We like to describe it as event management or wedding planning coaching instead.

When you invest in a coordination package with us you also get planning meetings, vendor recommendations, text support through your whole planning process and our KNOWLEDGE!

Because we have planned, executed and been involved in SO MANY weddings we really do have great insight. We make it a priority to fully grasp what you are looking for in your day and then use our knowledge of vendors, decor and logistics to make it a reality. We work within your budget to help turn your wedding Pinterest board into an actual day.

We also help level set your expectations, and help you really pin down what is MOST important to you on your day, if it’s not all doable within your means.

So while a planner or coordinator might seem like a big cost up front, it can really help you during your ENTIRE process of wedding planning and can help you stay on budget.

Something to also keep in mind…time is money.

And your time is valuable. Planning a wedding can take hours a week…think about how much time and stress you can save yourself if you allow a professional to narrow down your research time. Not to mention having great referrals on professional vendors that won’t cause headaches later on.

Let’s talk TIMELINES!

These are seriously so important for your wedding day to be able to flow the way it needs to flow. There are so many moving parts that are unique to each wedding day, a customized timeline is a MUST!

Templates from Etsy or apps are fabulous starting places, but a timeline is so much more than that template. Often people forget about things such as travel time, lunch, how long getting the dress on will take, detail photos, vendor arrival times and coverage times and much more!

We include timeline creation in all our coordination packages for this reason. We review the day step by step and account for every detail and anything that may throw your timeline off.

Since it’s my birthday, I figured I’d reintroduce myself for all our new followers!

It’s me, Tess! The one obsessed with keeping your wedding to its timeline… and if it doesn’t, I’m already one step ahead of ya!

I fell in love with all things weddings when I fell in love & planned my own wedding in 2019. After that I had friends and family asking me for help with their events and it all turned into Bailey and I starting Sugar Bliss!

I’m a soon to be mom of 2- with one running around just about everywhere (toddler moms know) & one on the way!

I’m a shockers fan by heart & a Huskers fan by marriage.
