Not to mention we like to share that love of music and the experience of an event with everyone. This is not just 'a job to do' for us. MPDJS is a Brand of Excellence. It’s also what has kept us in the DJ business for so many years and driving us forward. Professionalism, for us, is multi-faceted. Our equipment and presentation at any event we perform must be first-class each and every time. When

we set up our sound & lighting gear, we want the cleanest setup we can provide to our clients. Yes, this takes extra time but the end result is worth the extra effort. Presentation for us is paramount. We do the little things like hide the wiring behind skirts & scrims and tape wires to the floor for safety and we are never, ever late to an event. Over the years we have heard the horror stories of how other DJs/bands or event coordinators have destroyed an event or wedding... We realize that the wedding or event we are DJing at is a one-shot deal and that there are no 'do-overs' nor can anyone turn back the hands of time. Therefore, we do it right the first time. This means we communicate with our clients frequently to be sure we understand their ‘vision’ for the event. We also believe in doing business the old-fashioned way: Face to face. This is the only way we secure bookings.

I get asked all the time what exactly a DJ is... The term DJ comes from Disc Jockey when we spun vinyl on two turntables (I still have mine) and a mixer. Today, a true DJ will have a 2-4 channel controller board with jog-wheels that work similar to turntables that control mp3's in a DJ software package on a laptop (or a stand-alone controller). But its so much more than that... A true DJ will know how to beat match, hot-mix music and take people on a musical journey. Then comes the ability to use the mic and motivate people to dance. Finally, we have the cool lights to go with our pro-grade sound system and that rounds out a good DJ. Anything less is a 'Juke Box' or simply a music service and NOT a DJ. Beware of people that call themselves a DJ and shows up with a home stereo and a laptop. You truly do get what you pay for.

Note to bars, taverns or pubs: We will no longer be accepting any 'residency' gigs, that is, every week type gigs. Any gigs for bars, taverns or pubs will be under contract and a minimum $225 (3 hour minimum) and higher for holidays. For further information, PM, call or email us.

We’ve been asked over the years: What does a DJ do? Simply put, a DJ has the ability to hot-mix and beat-match music together. This will take place on a two (or more) source controller or turntables. More importantly, a good DJ will be able to ‘read’ the crowd and play a tune based on the current energy level on the dance-floor. Song selection is key. All that is just the on performance side. The side most people don’t see is the set-up/tear-down and the preparation sides. A good DJ will have sound and lighting systems that will be able fill any event or venue and has had years of experience doing it. Lastly is the preparation side: Setting up music crates specific to each event that the DJ thinks will be played or the client may want. This is the part that takes more time than all the rest. ~jmf
