EYES on MAIN Street

We are this small town in Eastern North Carolina dedicated to Photography. Since May 10, 2015, Eyes on Main Street INC has put 1,100 gigantic posters in our Historic Downtown Wilson.
The correct estimate is that over 125,000 visitors have seen this Art Project by 650 photographers coming from 91 countries. Over 200 of these photographers have come personally to visit us, as you could see for yourself last weekend. This is such a success story that photographers in San Francisco, Rio de Janeiro, Melbourne, Cape Town or Rome are hoping to get an invite to participate in the next edition (The 12th). We have created an unique event and happening that we can all be proud of and that we should cherish. Together with the American Center for PhotographersAmerican , Photography has become part of us. More than anything else, it has put us on a world map of real cool events. Last week EOMS had visitors from Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, India, Italy, Mali, Nicaragua, Nigeria, The Philippines, The United Kingdom. For the third time, we had representation from every continent. We have become a fairy tale for the photographers of the world, let's make certain we have a bright future.

The launch of the 11th Edition was a great success with over 750 visitors attending our many activities, including 22 professional photographers. We are Eyes on Main Street, a photography Festival launching its 11th Edition on May 31, 2025. Over 500 photographs are waiting for you in our Historic Downtown Wilson, made by 69 resident photographers coming from 24 countries and 6 continents between 2017 and 2024 (below Martin Roemers from The Netherlands).
The First Walk is on Saturday May 31 at 4.30 PM followed at 7 PM by a large launch party at the American Center for Photographers, bring all your friends, the more the merrier.

Eyes on Main Street is delighted to show you this preview of 8 photographs of the 11th Edition. We tested our abilities all over again to be in a great shape this weekend when we will hang the 92 remaining photographs. The first walk is on Saturday May 31 at 4.30PM starting at the American Center for Photographersrican , 230 Goldsboro Street South. This will be followed by a great launch event at ACP. So far, 19 resident photographers will join us for the party. This is an ode to the people of Wilson as the full 11th edition is dedicated to them.

The Moment of Truth.
This is what the team of Eyes on Main Street works for during a whole year, until the very moment the 100 very large “posters” arrive in the city. As you can see on the picture below, the walls of Historic Downtown Wilson will soon be filled with Photography. This year is different as the 11th Edition is an ode, a commemoration, a recognition. A quick glimpse at the photo will show Kimberly or Tigs, Sam or Marty, or Dick’s Hot Dog and Burger Boy. EOMS brings you in 100 posters a look at yourselves, a view in the mirror, a beautiful view. 69 photographers worked for over 2500 days to tell us a story, your story. Do not miss the first walk on Saturday May 31 at 4.30 PM with many of these photographers -your new friends- in attendance and let’s clap hands. Beside a moment of truth, this is a moment of Great Joy.

The printing of the Eyes on Main Street Residency Book is complete, Aldis my favorite printer did a wonderful job, it is marvelous.
For over 2500 days -think about that number- Eyes on Main Street has run a program to photograph every square inch of Wilson, NC, USA (population roughly 50,000). Sixty Nine photographers coming from 24 different countries have delivered a body of work rarely seen anywhere in the world.
This book will solidify the legacy of Eyes on Main Street, a non-profit dedicated to photography and photographers.

Our New Year's presents have arrived at The American Center for Photographers. We have received the major book collection from Scott Le Gear who donated over 250 books to our library. This includes "The Decisive Moment", the iconic book by Henri Cartier Bresson as seen in the foreground. The whole collection is very impressive and not to be missed.
