A story my photographer friends will enjoy. A piece of my history.

In the summer of 2023, a group of local Springfield, MA artists restored a piece of my family’s history a mural on the former Blooms Photo Supply building.

This wasn’t just any storefront… In the 1950s, it was a booming photography business owned by my grandfather and his two brothers my great uncles. At one point, it was known as the largest photo supply store in the United States. Bloom photo supply in downtown Springfield, Massachusetts

You’d think with a legacy like that I would’ve grown up to be a photographer… but instead, I became a florist designing beauty in a different medium. Still creative, still intentional, still storytelling just with flowers instead of film.

An honest moment from a seasoned creative…

It feels like every day, someone new becomes a “florist,” “planner,” “DJ,” “cake designer,” or “photographer.” And listen there is nothing wrong with chasing your dreams or stepping into a creative field you love. We all started somewhere.

But here’s the truth no one really talks about:

Experience matters.
Education matters.
Technique matters.
Professionalism matters.

In today’s world of social media, it’s easy to launch a business overnight without training, without hands-on practice, and without an understanding of what it truly takes to deliver quality, consistency, and client care especially in the wedding industry where there are no re-do’s.

Behind the scenes, the work is not just “pretty.”
It’s logistics. Problem solving. Safety. Mechanics. Timelines. Vendor communication. Weather backups. Product knowledge. Longevity. Reliability. And yes years of honing a craft.

So here’s my kindest gentle reminder:

Hire the people who have put in the time.
Hire the people who have studied, trained, and refined their skills.
Hire the professionals who are committed to your day, not just their portfolio.

And if you’re someone entering the industry welcome. Truly.
But please invest in learning, mentorship, and proper education. Your clients deserve your very best.

At the end of the day, beautiful work comes from passion and expertise not shortcuts.

Why Your Florist Should Arrive During Hair & Makeup

One of the most important (and most overlooked!) parts of your wedding morning is timing. If you’ve ordered a flower crown, hair comb, or plan to have blooms tucked into your bridal or bridesmaids’ hairstyles, your florist needs to be there while hair and makeup is still happening.

Snippets from 11/1/25 wedding!!

Sometimes, the simplest flowers tell the most beautiful story.

This weekend’s wedding was the perfect reminder that elegance isn’t about complexity it’s about intention.

We designed with clouds of baby’s breath, classic white roses, and just the faintest kiss of blush pink to soften the palette. Each centerpiece floated like a dream, glowing under candlelight and creating the most romantic ambiance.
