Be our guest! An elegant seating display welcomed Taylor and Drew’s guests to their reception. Each card, adorned with a wax seal, guided guests to their table number as they were led through the candlelit hallway by brass musicians playing celebratory jazz. It truly set the mood!

When your florals are the star of the reception design, you really let them shine!

Quite literally, our lighting plan focused on illuminating the floral magic created by and echoing the botanicals in the projections across the ballroom walls.

The level of candlelit glow I aspire to this holiday season? Molly and Joe’s wedding reception!

We layered hundreds of candles in varying heights to create a tapestry of flickering light down each table. Every guest found themselves in their *best* lighting and the result was truly magical.

The first day of December is here which means holiday decorating is in full swing! This set design I created for ’s holiday minis a few years ago serves as a great reminder that we can venture outside the typical “Christmas colors” and still evoke that holiday spirit!

What are your decorating plans for the holidays? Have you already begun?

Feeling thankful to have such a beautiful, supportive community, both here online and in real life. I hope each and every one of you is having a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Now, is it too soon to start talking about Christmas decorating? Because I personally can hardly wait ANY longer! *wink 🤶🏻

Hello friends and happy almost-Thanksgiving! If you are hosting tomorrow, consider the tips below for a (seemingly) effortless day!

1. Plan the menu.
Decide on the dishes you will be serving, taking into account the dietary restrictions and preferences of your guests. 2. Create a cooking schedule. Planning a cooking schedule will ensure that all dishes are ready and warm at the same time. Set timers and alarms to stay on track.3. Identify food prep that can be done in advance.
To ease your workload on the day of the event, consider making some dishes ahead of time. Or even if you do not make the entire dish, perhaps those green beans can be trimmed today instead! 4. Choose your serving dishes ahead of time. Decide what food item will go in which serving dish ahead of time to avoid a last minute scramble. I like to use post-its so I can quickly reference when the time comes.
5. Decorate and set the table.
Embrace the spirit of the season with warm and inviting fall colors and foliage. Setting the table in advance will cut down on day-of stress.
6. Stock up on supplies.
Ensure you have enough serving utensils, plates, glasses, napkins, and table decorations. Don’t forget extra seating, if necessary, and if you are in a colder climate, consider where you will put your guests’ coats.

7. Plan for beverages.
Offer a variety of drinks to cater to different tastes. Make sure to include non-alcoholic options for guests who may not be able or want to imbibe.
8. Welcome your guests.
Greet your guests with a warm smile and make them feel comfortable. Offer a designated area for coats and bags, and provide a simple appetizer or drink upon arrival.

9. Enjoy the day!
Remember to relax and enjoy the company of your loved ones. Delegate tasks if possible and take breaks to fully engage in the celebration.

10. Give thanks, of course!
As the host or hostess, take a moment to express gratitude for the presence of your guests and for the blessings in your life.

Happy hosting, friends! As always, I am grateful to each and everyone one of you. 🍂

One year since this night in LIGHTS!

This was such a unique wedding for me. Zach owns a company that specializes in LED screens for events so we worked closely to create a true spectacle. Monica had a very glamorous vision for the day and between the screens, the lighting, the large scale crystal chandelier– this wedding brought the drama!

The couple had their first dance to “The Greatest Showman” which could not have been more fitting for their love and their wedding.

Wishing a very happy FIRST anniversary to Monica and Zach!

Houseguest season is here! Whether you are staying with friends or family members, practicing good guest manners is a must.

Keep Your Hosts Informed. If your flight is delayed or you hit traffic on your journey, take care to let your hosts know. They are likely preparing for your arrival so it is best not to keep them guessing. Conversely, if you are running ahead of schedule, you may want to find something to occupy your time. Your hosts may not be ready for you and you could cause unnecessary stress by arriving two hours early.

Be a Tidy and Considerate Guest. In both communal spaces and your guest room, you should be as tidy as possible. Make the bed each morning, unpack your suitcase or keep everything neatly contained, and clean up after yourself wherever you go.

Offer to Help. Set the table, clear dishes, and offer assistance where you can. However, if your hosts refuse your help, respect their wishes but be sure to continue offering where appropriate.

Limit Noise During “Quiet Hours.” Between bedtime and waking, roughly 9pm to 7am, avoid making phone calls streaming without headphones, and certainly no showers. The only exception to this would be if you are in a guest house or in a space that is quite far from your hosts and their family.

Respect Privacy. As a guest in someone’s home, you have been invited into a private space. Avoid snooping, prying, or eavesdropping. And, it should go without saying, do not gossip afterward about anything you have seen or experienced.

Tidy Up Before You Leave. Take a moment to do some mild cleaning before you leave. Wipe the sink basin, rinse the shower, make the bed, and pick up anything that may have fallen on the floor.

Show Gratitude Before and After: Bring a gift with you when you arrive and send a thank-you note after you leave to show gratitude to your hosts for their generosity.

Did I miss anything? What are your most important houseguest courtesies?
