Due to the amount of snow, we have decided to cancel service for the safety of our drivers. We will be double trash next week for all missed on Friday, March 15.

Any recycling customers that are missed today, we are going to be servicing your recycling on an off week, next week.

Hello all! We are planning to run Thursday’s (Mar 14) routes as planned for the time being. We understand that there is a snowstorm coming in tonight (Wed, Mar 13) and into tomorrow (Thurs). If there are any service interruptions due to the weather, we will make sure to reach out as soon as possible and inform everyone - Our recovery plans will depend on the area that you reside.

Happy Monday! Due to landfill closures and road conditions, we could not run all routes today (Mon, Jan 8, 2024). If your trash was not picked up today, on your normal route, it will be picked up tomorrow. Please have all trash and recycling out by 7 am.

We will run Thursday routes today 5/12. We will run Fridays routes Saturday 5/13. There will be many customers we cannot get to, we hope you understand, there will be areas that our drivers will not risk, so please understand, our drivers work very hard to get you picked up everyday. We will take double the amount of trash next week if you get missed on your normal Thursday or Friday.

Hello all!

Predicted winter weather could have an impact on our services tomorrow (Wednesday February 15). If the weather is severe enough that we cannot service our regular routes and our drivers safety is at risk, we will delay trash services by one day.

If the holiday spirit has began to dwindle, we can help lighten the load on your post-holiday to-do list! Drop off your trees for recycling at City Hall, now through January 11. The dumpster is located in the back parking lot, bordering Lake Ave. Kindly place only bare, *undecorated trees in the bin, as no other trash will be accepted. Hi all! We just wanted to reach out and say we hear everyone’s questions and concerns. Our driver’s safety has and will always be of upmost importance to us - This is why we choose to cancel routes due to inclement weather. A new policy is in effect as of now: When we cancel future routes due to weather, we will no longer enforce double trash pick up the following week. Trash will be picked up the day after. All trash routes that week will be delayed a day, but will resume as normal the following week.

Moving forward, we hope this change in policy resolves any concerns or issues. Happy Holidays from our family to yours!

Teller & Chaffee County Waste tells the story of why they are changing the way they service and pick up Chaffee County’s recycling. This 1 minute 30 second video show how they collect our recycle and where they take our recycle.

Teller & Chaffee County Waste has been recycling since 2005 and putting recycling in the front of their trash trucks. These trucks are not designed to do this, but they made it work. They knew there was a need for this service and so they did it this way. As they have grown to over 10K+ customers, Teller & Chaffee County Waste can no longer continue to service that way.

The video explains how it is not safe and definitely not a clean sanitary way to pick up recycling. So, offering a 64-gallon bin with a yellow recycle lid and sticker, running a dedicated truck, and separate route, is the only way to go.

They know that this service will not be for everyone, but what is unique about their service is the "Single Stream" which means co-mingled. Teller & Chaffee County Waste can do this because they pay the recovery center in Colorado Springs that GFL just purchased to separate our recycling.

Teller & Chaffee County Waste wants to offer this service for those that want to recycle and wants those to feel confident in that it is being recycled and where it is taken. The fee associated with this service is $15 per month with a bi-weekly service. Starting January 1st Teller & Chaffee County Waste will no longer pick up recycling the way they do now. It is just not safe, sanitary or practical any longer. Teller & Chaffee County Waste wants to provide the highest quality service for recycling that they can, so therefore, the change. If you sign up prior to October 31st for your free 64-gallon bin you will be guaranteed delivery in December and service starting in January. https://tellercountywaste.com/
