We are doing a DRIED FLOWER workshop at the awesome women’s collective, Hinterland in Shokan NY on December 17th from 2-3:30. I’m in love with these whimsical ethereal dried flower strands. Assemble them on a hoop for a mobile or keep them as is to drape across a tree or create a holiday installation in your home. All the flowers were grown on our flower farm at Woodstock Field to Vase and then hung to dry in a dark ventilated space to retain their brilliancy. At the workshop you will have all the materials and instruction to create these dried flower strands or mobiles. They make a unique holiday gift too. Limited space so sign up soon. DM me if interested.

Thought I would show some behind the scenes of my dried flower studio. My space is very small so the hanging and drying happens in one location and the fabrication happens in another spot! I try to be organized but I like a lot of options in front of me as I create and as you can see, dried flowers quickly become messy! I am making inventory, (dried flower bouquets and wreaths), for the following upcoming markets: Hudson Farmers Market on November 4th, Farmhouse Project In Callicoon on November 11-12, and Hullabaloo in Kingston on November 18-19. Come find me! All the flowers are from my flower farm!

I love a rainy day when you don’t have to worry about harvesting flowers and can just relax and be creative. I’m trying bigger dried flower arrangements. I love the sparse airy whimsical appearance but I always seem to over stuff. Next trial…..stay tune!

My focus has now shifted to dried flowers that were harvested all season. I have started the long process of putting my fields to sleep. All the flowers I want to dry have been cut and the rest….. thank you flowers… you really did your magic this season. This year was only possible because of my loyal customers and generous land owners that let me farm their property. Thank you all!!! Look for us selling our dried florals at and .

I’m so thankful to have harvested my flower fields before the rain and decorated Cucina Restaurant for a Woodstock Film Festival private event last night. My dried flower drying barn was not working. There was too much moisture and I was getting mold on my flowers….And then there was the timber rattler! For my birthday, my dear friend, devised a system in my work room in my house for drying the flowers. It really is ingenious,inexpensive, and very functional. I live in a small house so I couldn’t give up a room totally to drying flowers, but I do have high ceilings. The flowers hang on a thin clothesline close to the ceiling. They go through an eyelet and are secured tightly with a cleat. The lines run the width of my room where they are tied off with the same cleat system. When I want to lower the line of flowers or tighten the rope, I just adjust it by the cleat. It looks so beautiful to have them hanging in my work room. Convenient too when it comes to making bouquets.

CSA is still happening, 16 weeks! Onto incorporating dahlias! When I have time, I like to make each one just flow from bucket to hand rather than being formulaic. I love experimenting with different color combinations. Alas, that takes way more time but is also way my rewarding. So today was one of those days of letting the creativity flow.

I am truly grateful to all my customers that chose Woodstock Field to Vase as their farmer-florist. The first wedding of the season ( photo by ) was a DIY and we did the personal flowers. September and October will be busy with wedding and special events, with an all dried flower occasion. Having a backup plan with dried flowers helps reduce the stress of losing my field of flowers to frost. I am accepting booking for Winter events using dried flowers and the 2024 season.

This time of year there are so many choices of stems when making bouquets. I tried some new varieties this year;
The delicate lacy Didiscus, Carmel Cherry Phlox which makes a bouquet pop, the beautiful creams and light browns of Sahara Rudbeckia and the delicate Trachelium.

Woodstock Field to Vase is partnering with an amazing artist that makes these beautiful keepsakes for your wedding or special event. Woodstock Field to Vase uses the same flowers from your event which are pressed and arranged around the invitation and then framed. The completed size is 12 x 16. I am very excited to collaborate with this gifted fellow flower lover!

You probably all know how much I LOVE ranunculus. I’m so excited to still have them around. They make a beautiful dried flower and will be a terrific focal flower once I start dried flower bouquet production. I use the simple approach of hanging in a well ventilated, dry dark area, and have a barn I am using. I have been harvesting and hanging tons of flowers to dry. The peonies, Celosia, amaranth, wheat, oats, strawflowers, larkspur, etc. are all looking great.

I love harvesting and arranging for my CSA and yesterday I got home early to beat the rain… which never came. Then I got up early to harvest flowers for drying before the rain…. AT 1:00 it is just starting to sprinkle. So much for weather reports! I start my summer CSA this week and still have 2 spaces! Check my bio for a link to the website to signup

Flower expert question! I believe this is in the digitalis family, but is different than the wild yellow foxglove grandiflora. The blossoms are extremely petite. I foraged a stem while walking in the woods with my dog in Woodstock, New York. Has anyone seen this before? I’m in love! ,

I love how wild and unruly these Icelandic poppies are. The flower industry is all about long straight stems and I am all for Mother Nature doing her thing. Although their vase life is about 4-5 days, which is short, I love to add them to bouquets for that whimsy!

I have a field and cooler filled with ranunculus. Definitely coming to the end of ranunculus season for me. I hate when these beautiful flowers are passed as they are truly my favorite. I have been drying a ton so I can offer them in dried flower arrangements but I still have plenty. Give me a shout out if you would like some. I deliver!

First CSA tonight at the Tinker Tavern in Woodstock. I have waited a long time for these ranunculus, and have tended them through the winter and heat. Field grown ranunculus in the Catskills bloom considerably later than those grown in a greenhouse. Since they are not crazy about the heat, their season is somewhat short. I adore these flowers, and they are my all-time favorite.

I’m feeling excited to see flowers this season from seedlings I started in Feb! I giggle when people say what a lovely spring. It IS! AND it has been a lot of extra seedling tending and fretting over here with the temperature swings. I am reseeding some crops that didn’t like the cold and are now struggling. One of my staple crops for fresh and dried flowers…. Celosia! Look forward to sharing all these with my community.
