Shop closing announcement

As alot of you know my 40 year old son was in an accident in November. He suffered a broken neck at his c3 and c4 vertebrae. He is currently in ccu at Methodist still fighting. Breathing on his own is his current battle. Next will be rehabilitation in Lincoln Nebraska.

Unfortunately due to my son's injuries I will become his full-time caregiver upon release from the hospital. I'll travel to Lincoln with him and learn along side of him what all that entails. Currently he is a quadriplegic and there isn't much hope he'll regain any use of his limbs. His right arm has movement but nothing in his hand.
The heartbreaking reality is that I cannot care for him and run my flower shop.

We will be permanently closing our woodward shop.

Jacob will need full time care, at least in the beginning. This new beginning brings an end to others. I made a dream come true by owning my own flower shop, with the help of my wonderful husband and family. I did it and even with so much surrounding competition succeeded. I am proud of myself and would like to thank my wonderful family for supporting my dream.

What a wonderful community you have been to me. Thank you so much for making the last year a success and a dream come true.

Thank you to Harper Rose Florist for taking care of my customers while I've been with my son. https://www.harperrosesfloral.com/
She's located out of Perry but does same day deliveries to Woodward and Madrid. She does beautiful work.

In January, you can start planting the following plants in zone 5a:
Swiss chard: A leafy green that can grow from early spring until a heavy frost
Leeks: An allium family member that can be overwintered by sprinkling seeds in late summer and mulching them in the fall
Lemongrass: A plant that can be started in January
Lavender: A plant that can be started in January without cold stratification
Rosemary: A plant that can be started in January
Roselle/Hibiscus: A plant that can be started in January and grown for tea
Lisianthus: A plant that can be started in January for its flowers

The average last frost in zone 5 is in May, after which it's generally safe to plant tender seedlings outdoors.

36 Days since our sons C4, C5 spinal injury resulting in quadratic paralysis.

Jacob continues to improve slowly. We've had some difficulties with the ventilator, fevers, anxiety, insomnia and shoulder pain. All are slowly improving.

Today he is breathing on his own with the ventilator on back up which is exciting and no fever overnight. He's been working on time in his combilizer chair. He's been taking daily strolls around the icu where he harasses the nurses.

Tuesday we are scheduled to leave for Lincoln. Please 🙏 we don't have anymore delays.

We have collected a little over 3,000 so far to go towards Empowering Jake's New Beginning fundraiser. We are so touched by your generosity and outpouring of love for Jacob and our family.

If you would like to help towards Jake's medical equipment I have included the gofund me link or if you prefer venmo you can send donations to .

Jake was in a life-changing car accident on November 8th, 2024. As a result of the crash, hi… Beth Thielen needs your support for Empower Jake's New Beginning
