"Today, we bow our heads in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of September 11, a day that has gone down in history with immeasurable pain and loss. More than two decades have passed, but the memories of the sacrifices and courage of thousands of people still live on in our hearts. The silent heroes who stood up amid the chaos to save others, and the innocent people who were taken from this world suddenly, leaving a void in their families and communities.

We not only remember them, but also honor the indomitable spirit of unity, of compassion and caring that arose in the midst of such pain. An entire country, and a world, stood stronger, not only because of the loss, but also because of the belief that love and peace will always prevail over violence and hatred.

Today and forever, we will not forget. 9/11 reminds us to cherish every moment, to honor life and continue to live for the values they defended with their lives."

We’re working a single vehicle crash this morning near the Dollar Store on Kings Highway. The car flipped after leaving the roadway, and driver was ejected. His condition is unknown at this time, but he was alert and talking to first responders before being taken to the hospital. Hopefully, that’s a good sign.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

This evening (August 31, 2024), at around 8:45 pm, Utica Police officers responded to "Price Chopper"-1917 Genesee Street in Utica, in regards to a robbery.
When officers arrived they learned about an altercation that occurred between a store employee and a juvenile who was stealing from the store. During the altercation the juvenile involved dropped a black in color handgun that he had in his possession, pick it up and took off running through the parking lot.
The juvenile involved in this matter is described as a black male, approximately 13-14 years of age, wearing a black zip up hooded sweatshirt and shorts.

***Shots Fired Investigation***
Today (September 1, 2024) at around 12:53 pm, Utica Police officers responded to the 900 block of Bleecker Street, Utica in regards to a shots fired incident.
Arriving officers learned that two males were riding their bicycles westbound on Bleecker Street, when they suddenly dropped their bikes in front of convenience store. One of the males, who was wearing a red and black long sleeve shirt and blue jeans, pulled out a handgun and began to shoot six to eight times at a blue in color four door sedan vehicle, that was traveling northbound on Nichols Street.
The other male is described as wearing a blue sweater and blue jeans. Both suspects rode off on their bicycles westbound on Bleecker Street from Nichols Street.
The Utica Police Department is not aware of any injuries to occupants of the vehicle, or innocent bystanders at this time.

Happy National Police K-9 Day! Today, we honor the incredible police dogs and their handlers who work tirelessly to keep communities safe. These brave K9s and their dedicated partners play a crucial role in law enforcement, using their skills to detect, protect, and serve.
Today, we also celebrate K9 Saurus and the amazing contributions he makes alongside his handler. Saurus’s dedication, bravery, and exceptional skills in the field exemplify the incredible work of police K9s. Thank you, K9 Saurus for your invaluable service and commitment to keeping our community safe.
We also take a moment to pay respect to the courageous K9s who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their commitment and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

On March 9th, 2023, an officer on patrol at an airport was approached by a woman inquiring about programs for discounted or free flights. The officer advised her to speak directly with the airlines. When she couldn’t find any such programs, she became agitated and left. She then began asking random passengers for help. Suspecting that she was harassing others, the officer approached her again, but she verbally abused him. The officer repeatedly requested her to get off the road and walk on the sidewalk, but she ignored his commands. With no other choice, he took strict measures, which triggered her even more. Seeing the officer struggle while arresting the woman, airport security personnel latched onto her to help contain her, but she bit him as well. It seemed the woman was in no mood to cooperate with the officers, as she actively tried to bite and kick them. The woman bit the officer severely, breaking his skin and causing the wound to swell. He was later sent to a hospital for treatment. She was soon examined by medical professionals. She was charged with resisting arrest with and without violence, as well as battery on a peace officer

Big shoutout to our amazing officers and Game & Fish for safely relocating this majestic mountain lion who decided to take a stroll through a neighborhood off Tramway and Spain! 🦁
Our furry friend was found chillin’ in a tree, looking like he had the best view in town. 🌳😴 Game & Fish tranquilized him, and with the help of our Foothills officers, they carried him out like a VIP guest.
"Just a catnap," they said. "It'll be fun," they said.
Game & Fish tagged him and will be releasing him back into the Manzano Mountains. Rest easy, buddy. You're headed back where you belong! 🌲🏞️

Warren, Michigan — On January 28, 2024, an employee at the Speedway Gas Station located at 24940 Mound Road called the Warren Police Department after a man refused to leave the store. The man had been playing loud music inside the store, causing a disturbance. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the man with a dog named Jynx sitting between his legs. The officers instructed the man to leave the store or face arrest. In response, the man tied the dog's leash around his waist, seemingly preparing for a confrontation.
