Head Gardener and another.
Gaunts House is looking for a Head Gardener and a second Gardener-cum-grounds person to manage our large garden and grounds (with help), our dilapidated walled vegetable garden, and to help maintain lawns and flower beds around the house.
Gaunts House runs and hosts residential retreats and courses encouraging spiritual growth, well-being, and fulfilment. We are working towards becoming a centre for teaching and sharing sustainable living skills and, in the future, will be running courses, including organic gardening, foraging, herbal medicine and preserving.
We are seeking an organic vegetable gardener to plan our large walled garden to provide food for our kitchen. Your job would be to manage the walled garden, poly tunnel and greenhouse and to maintain the lawns and flower beds near the house.
Alongside gardening experience, you will need to have good social skills, be willing to share knowledge and be happy to work alongside others.
The ability and qualifications to use and maintain large garden machinery and equipment would be desirable, if not essential.
Establishing a good working relationship with our kitchen staff is especially important as we are working towards self-sufficiency and supplying the kitchen all year round.

Pantry Staff at various times in 2024.

Gaunts House is a retreat centre hosting residential groups exploring ways towards better physical and mental health. We are a place to relax, be creative, make friends and to connect with nature.
We are currently looking for casual pantry staff to help with washing up and clearing plates at mealtimes when we are very busy, hosting groups of up to 100 residential guests.
The work is occasional depending on when we have larger groups in, mostly around Lunch and Dinner times and predominantly at weekends.

Gaunts house is looking for a live in caretaker. We host residential retreats and courses encouraging spiritual growth, well-being, and fulfilment. Gaunts is a large house on a country estate occupied by the owner, Sir Richard Glyn, and by a small community of residential volunteers. We need someone to live on site to be responsible for the security of the house and to help with daily maintenance.

Gaunts House is looking for a house parent, or parents. Your role would be to help recruit volunteers and to provide structure and support to a growing community.
Gaunts is a retreat centre hosting residential groups exploring ways towards better physical and mental health. We are a place to relax, be creative, make friends and to connect with nature. We are currently looking for residential volunteers and aiming to set up a long-term community to help us in all aspects of running the house and gardens and in continuing to be a place for profound learning and self-development.
This is a nurturing role, and you will be the anchor for our family of volunteers. We can accommodate up to 10 live-in volunteers and need a suitable person, or persons, to give support, provide guidance and to keep things fun.

Gaunts House welcomes 'The Well,' a trio of creative spirits with very different artistic and cultural backgrounds who have formed as an enthusiastic and sympathetic friendship making music they describe as alt-folk. Initially put together for a single event, through recommendation and word of mouth they continue to play together and have been organically building their sound and repertoire around the original songs of their main writer Rich Hale. Rich is a sometime member of the chill out group Kinobe, while Philip Starnier and Stummer have enjoyed successful and rewarding careers in acting and contemporary dance respectively before returning to their own musical roots.

Communicating with herbs, A herb walk & Understanding the mysticism and folklore of herbs.

During this workshop we will learn about coming into relationship with the herbs we wish to learn from and about. This will include the art of listening and sensing the world around you, understanding the vibration of the herb as part of the communication and communion.

There will be a herbal centre located in the Ball Room, where throughout the weekend you would be able to visit, to learn about making various things, spend time and engage with the herbalists within a herbal environment.

During these sessions we will be learning how to make, and the benefits of, a hydrosols using the medicinal herbs grown on site at Gaunts.

Gaunts House welcomes you to an our community camping month. We are offering an affordable chance to come from anywhere from 2 days up to three weeks to relax, be with the land and enjoy the space and peace.

Gaunts Community ‘Open’ Camping Month: 7th-31st August: Drop in camping ( 2-night minimum stay per time). Leading on from the Re-Union we are offering families & friends of Gaunts the opportunity to be at Gaunts during the month of August. This could be a time just to be with the beauty of the land / engage in a personal retreat / join in with various garden projects / enjoy occasional workshops and music evenings as they arise / and create with others collaborations and spontaneous happenings.

During this period there will be a chance to rest and Be in the peace and tranquillity of the peace and landscapes at Gaunts House. The camping area will be on the front lawn near the shower and loo block. There you will be free to rest and relax in the grounds, take walks through the woods, swim in the pool, explore the surrounding area and perhaps join one of the community suppers in the main dining room. (at additional costs). Cooking is allowed on stoves, but we have a no fire policy. There is a fire pit though which may be used. (Firewood extra charge)
