Melting Vinyl & Innerstrings are proud to announce Lewes Psychedelic Festival 2024!

The festival returns on Saturday the 27th of January 2024 at the All Saints Centre with visuals and music for the senses. Join us in the ancient setting of Lewes, where we’re bringing together a wide variety of acts under the psych umbrella. As ever, international visual artist Innerstrings will be bringing the visuals, turning both rooms into a bath of swirling liquid light, not unlike being in a giant lava lamp. There will also be intimate sets taking place throughout the afternoon.

Since 2009, Lewes Psych Fest is known for its mind-expansive lineups with a range of psych wonders from Brighton and beyond. We’re thrilled to share this year’s lineup with even more rule-breakers and genre-defyers than ever before🔥

🎫 Tickets go on sale 10am tomorrow (Friday 1st of December)

MEMORIALS and VÄLVĒ return to Lewes!

So pleased to be announcing this fabulous support for our forthcoming Memorials show at Lewes Con Club on Sunday 10th December.

Memorials will be supported by VÄLVĒ.

VÄLVĒ
Folk lullabies re-imagined by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Found-sound collages interrupted by Welsh language orations and sudden outbursts of fuzz bass. Gleaming synthpop workouts that collapse into swirling dreamscapes of sax and harp. Tiny sounds opening out onto the epic. Hi-tech and no-tech, deployed with equal measures of discipline and abandon. Carefully sculpted disorder. Uncanny geometries of noise and melody. Dizzy and gleeful and drawn in notebooks. That is VÄLVĒ.

We're so pleased to announce a new show: MEMORIALS + special guests.

It's a very warm welcome back to Memorials following their sold out event in Brighton earlier this year. Plus, this a Christmas special!

Memorials are the new band of Verity Susman (Electrelane) and Matthew Simms (Wire, Better Corners, It Hugs Back, UUUU). On Saturday (29th April) we will be heading to Kingston, near Lewes, for an early May Day celebration called Mayday! Mayday! Hosted by Caught By The River. The main talks are sold out, but anyone can come along to the fun going on outside in the village.
We kick off at 10am with a mask making session for all ages with Sarah Sparkes, then follow with a Pillars Of Wonder procession and Acid Maypole at 11am. At 6pm there will further processions with the Bald Knobbers, an anarchic troupe who need to be seen to be believed, then the unveiling ritual for Jimmy Cauty and Jem Finer's two and a half ton Gurdy stone which sits up on the hill above the village. It will be sonified with loud blasts of music. And lots of interaction in The J***s pub all day. It's a ten minute cab cab or a half hour walk from Lewes station.
Come on down, a weird time is guaranteed for all.... 🙂

Wow, what an amazing day. We say this every year; but that was the best Lewes Psychedelic Festival yet!
A massive thank you to the bands, our hard working team, the staff at All Saints Centre, Union Music Store, and of course, our lovely audience... bringing the good vibes to Lewes every year!

⚠️ PLEASE NOTE ⚠️
🎫 There is limited capacity for all ticket holders on the Saturday afternoon in the Small Psych Room and at Union Music Store.
🍺 The bar will be well stocked with quality alcoholic drinks including Harveys Brewery and Abyss Brewing ales on tap, in addition to a selection of non-alcoholic options.
🧥 There is a cloakroom available from 5.30pm Saturday for £1 a coat/bag, left at your own risk but there will be someone attending it the whole time.

We’re thrilled to announce that Rose Io will be joining this year’s lineup🎉

Founding member and songwriter for band Rokurokubi, Rose Io is now performing as a solo artist, continuing to enchant audiences with jewel-like musical poetry and storytelling. Her songs are a mixture of the macabre, surreal and childlike, in the footsteps of outsider musicians such as Syd Barrett, Ivor Cutler and the Space Lady.
