Midwest Mujeres Collective program is a mentorship program that teaches Latinas and other women about content creation, and platform development using social marketing for social issues like starting a business, health, wellness, career development, domestic violence, and other social justice issues.

Earning an equal wage is important for our members, our economy, and our heritage as Mujeres!

“If we can’t imagine ourselves in high-paying jobs if we can’t say “Yo Quiero Dinero” I want money, how can we overcome the stigma of earning less?”

Debate: Next month many employers in Illinois will be required to include certain information on their job postings namely what the job will pay and what benefits it includes.

Yo Quiero Dinero!

It might be the last day of National Hispanic Heritage Month, but Midwest Mujeres will continue to share stories of immigrants, migrants, and workers who sacrifice everything, including their health, to provide for their families, as well as women who face the gender wage gap. In June of this year, the Midwest Mujeres Collective released a memorable show about the stories of closing the gender wage gap. Yo Quiero Dinero! is a final assessment of our Take the Mic accelerator program. The six women underwent intensive five-week training in public speaking, mindfulness, storytelling, and writing their narratives. Then, they had to pitch their story on stage for everyone! Thanks to our families and amazing board, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters! In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, I reflect on the stories that shaped my childhood. Like many, I grew up with Disney fairy tales of Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty, but these tales felt far from the experiences shared by mí Mamá, abuelita and mis tias. They told me of La Virgincita, La Llorona y Maria Magdalena and other stories deeply connected to our heritage, religion, and history. Yet, despite how much I read, I never found their stories in the textbooks I studied. National Hispanic Heritage Month is a reminder that, like our stories, our contributions are vast but often unrecognized in mainstream media, in our streets, and in education. Storytelling is a powerful act of spirit sharing, and this month, we invite you to honor the voices and histories that have long gone unheard. Read our stories, learn our history—not just here, but across our ancestral lands. We are culture. We are energy. We are hope. ¡Viva La Gente! ¡Viva La Raza! ¡Viva El Pueblo!

Hello,

My name is Araceli Esparza, I’m the founder and owner of Wisconsin Mujer, a social engagement company that specializes in non-profit and Latino outreach. Wisconsin Mujer has been a pivotal partner in several annual galas and events, working with us is being connected to several local and diverse vendors with a pulse on the audience.

My experience in targeted outreach and marketing comes from over ten years of working in fundraising and program development positions with local government, colleges, and large non-profit agencies.

I am also, the creator and host of a local podcast, 📷www.midwestmujeres.com our mission is to break the isolation of being Latina and living in the Midwest. We have been featured in Madison 365 and Wisconsin State Journal as 2018 Wisconsin’s Most Influential Latina and as a guest on Wisconsin Public Radio’s Wisconsin Life.
