Hyde is where Afreena goes to Banoful for her Bengali sweets, gets her eyebrows done, and pops to Asalamoalaikum Cafe when she gets a hankering for Fuchka and Chotpoti. Bredbury is where she goes to christenings at St Mark’s Church. Aside from the hotel currently housing asylum seekers, Bredbury is pretty white.

In this mesmerizing work, the stage transforms into a canvas where rhythmic tales of desire unfold. The mirrors, akin to the calming waters of the sea, reflect the duality of their love story— Through these mirrors, the performance reveals that love is not only a personal journey within oneself but also a profound connection and exploration through the other.

Derived from the Hindi word for fragrance, the title alludes to the enduring power of memory and the essence of love itself.

Based on Hanif Kureishi’s iconic and Oscar-nominated screenplay - My Beautiful Laundrette is set in London during the Thatcher years in the 1980s, and tells the story of a young British Pakistani, Omar, who transforms his Uncle’s run-down laundrette into a thriving business. After being confronted by a fascist gang, Omar recognises school friend Johnny and uses their history to diffuse the situation.
This bold production of Kureishi’s ground-breaking film, explores cultural conflict, gender equality, class and generational strife, all presented against a funky backdrop of 80s music and culture with additional original music composed by the Pet Shop Boys’

In The Power (of) The Fragile Mohamed invites Latifa, his mother with him on stage. After being apart for several years, they find each other again in the theatre.

The Power (of) The Fragile is a meeting of two worlds, two bodies, two minds. Latifa always dreamt of being a dancer, Mohamed made it his profession. The borders of their bodies blur, making it hard to decipher where one ends and the other starts. Their lives and dreams start to merge, and only time claims its space between mother and son.

The Power (of) The Fragile is a collection of images, reflections on what the relation between mother and son can look like, on what it means to be home and to go away. It is a performance about movement, of bodies and people, about weight and what it means to carry weight, about being together and being apart. It is a tender portrait of a close relationship, and a pamphlet for our right to go wherever we want to go.

This adventurous new production of the ancient tragedy is told through a meeting of the worlds of Indian and western baroque classical music. The bowed strings of the violin and the tar shehnai, the hammered strings of the santoor, the plucked strings of the harpsichord and sitar, and the rhythms of the tabla shape a unique and beautiful musical encounter between East and West.
