Chemung Valley Old Timers Association Our Association is dedicated to preserving the culture, equipment and machines that built our great We thank them! The club was started in 1977!

The Chemung Valley Old Timers Was started by a group of local guys interested in antique Tractors and Engines. All though most of them have passed on to the Big show in the sky! And growing stronger every year!

05/03/2022

So as many of you may have assumed.

There will be NO CVOT show again this year in 2022!

This has nothing to due with COVID.
It has everything to do with.
Rising costs and lack of HELP.

We held a meeting in October.
At that time, it would have cost the club almost its entire budget.
Just to rent the grounds.
$5-$7000. At $1000 per day.
Which includes $1000 per day for set up days. Plus camping fees to each camper.

It was discussed to look into other possible locations.
To which is still up in the air.

Our club has such a lack of available staff. That it is not feasible to put on a show in 2022.

Yes at show time folks jump in and help out.
It has been the same faces running things and carrying things along. For probably the last 20 years or more.
These folks are moving on, passing away, or simply burned out.
We have lacked in help for years.
We always managed to get it done.
As the get it done crew is getting older. The get done has got up and gone.

At this point and time the future of the CVOT Assoc. Is in Limbo.

We will have a meeting over the next few months. It will be posted. We will keep you a tune of what’s ahead.

Please do not blow up my in box with complaints.
We’ve had enough complaints of how or what should have been.
Or changed. Or what you would have done. Over the last 45 years.
The time for all that was at a meeting over the last 45 years.
Or from a seat in office.
Not now as we ponder the future of our once great Association.

Don’t think this is something we take lightly.
Some of us have been dedicated to this club for over 35 - 40 years! Some longer.

Im not telling you this is the end of CVOT. I’m telling that it is up in air!

When more info is available I will pass it on.

Thank you all !!!!

In case you missed this!

Attention:
Chemung Valley Old Timers.

I wish I was greeting you all with my microphone over the PA system.
“Ladies and Gentlemen we’d like to welcome you...”

Unfortunately, that is not the case again this year.

The Chemung Valley Old Timers Association has decided it is in the best interest of our club members, vendors, participants, spectators, and communities to cancel our 2021 show.
Reason: COVID

We face this summer with the same uncertainty as 2020.

This is the prime planning season for CVOT - when we gather donations, sponsors, vendors, etc. Our planning starts every year about a month or so following that year’s show for the following year. So all in all we are over a year behind.
We have been unable to hold meetings and plan.
Any meetings or planning sessions are still cancelled until further notice - as well as our show, unfortunately.

With all the mandates, social distancing, and group limitations.
It is not feasible for us to do all these things. Counting heads in and out, all day. Figuring those against the numbers of campers, vendors, participants etc. So we comply with the numbers. To keep from getting shutdown or having an outbreak from our show. We have figured many factors into this decision.

The Fair and other events are cancelled at the grounds for 2021.

At some point in the near future. We will have a directors meeting to touch base and figure things out, so we can get everything in line and plan for 2022. We do need to get together to map out the future.

Please stay tuned for updates and info for 2022 planning. When that is possible again!

Please pass this along to friends and family, Ones that may not see social media. Help us stay strong by passing this along.

To all of our friends, family, members, participants, vendors, directors, board members, and community:

Be safe, stay healthy, stay vigilant, compassionate, calm, and strong!
Let’s pray we all make it another year. So we will all be able to hold a show in 2022.

Please do not use this post to argue your political beliefs, mask preference, or vaccine views. Or to Post your thoughts on anything happening in the world right now. This is not the venue for those discussions.

Remember folks this is America. We can all think different. - Yet we can all be friends and family. At CVOT.

Hope to see you all SOON!
Tractors, dust, lanterns at dusk, yellow dogs puffing in the dark, a campfire, a cold drink, whiff of gas, grilled food, good friends, and good conversation.
