A new Theatre going up in Joburg. Hoping to open end of May 2015. THE JOBURG BEER HALL THEATRE 15-04-2015

It started with a handshake.

Somewhere in the early hours one morning in December 2014, I shook hands with a man. The man was Mannie Cabeleira, the famed owner of The Radium Beer Hall on Louis Botha Ave. We have become dear friends, and the handshake was epic. He said to me…”I’ll deal with the food and booze, that’s my business. You handle the theatre, that’s your business…you agree?” I said:”yes.” He mused for a moment and t

hen grunted and said :”shake.” We shook. That’s the way I like it. The good old-fashioned way. Clearly, Gauteng does not have enough theatres. The Market Theatre is pulling it’s hair out trying to accommodate as much as possible. Theatre –On-The-Square is pretty well booked up, due to the Herculian efforts of Daphne Coen…..I never know what’s happening at the Civic, and I hope The Soweto Theatre Complex grows from strength to strength. But on the North-East side, we could do with another venue. THE JOBURG BEER-HALL THEATRE

Where: Above The Radium Beer Hall (cnr LOUIS BOTHA and 9th street)

How it works:

- 6 shows a week.
-
- 2 week runs (unless demand calls for an extension)

- 70-90 seater.

- R70 per ticket (door. No Computicket)

- 40\60 split. (60 for the company)

- Do your own marketing.

- There is an option of using the services of Andy Darlington as Publicist. He charges 10% of door. (See attached C.V……..THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS)

- Use your own technician.

- Shows start at 7:15pm.

- Shows not longer than 75 minutes.
