Were baaaaack.... Double dosage of TOP TIPS TUESDAY!

John Kelly joint Owner of RAM Organisation & member of the 2013 C&IT Awards Judging Panel recommends when writing your entry you should....

1. Read the brief and ensure you have answered all the points! All too often we see entries put in that haven’t addressed the category properly and have to be rejected

2. Get at least one colleague to read it to sense and spell-check your entry, typos aren't viewed well and may affect your mark

3. Wow us – we want to know what makes your entry stand out from the rest, if you did something mind-blowing then shout about it!!

PLUS

Dave Preston Vice President of Marketing at Kaspersky Lab & member of the 2013 C&IT Awards Judging Panel recommends when writing your entry you should....

2. Complete as much of the brief as you can

3. Show you care by the detail and completeness of your submission

TOP TIPS TUESDAY!
Hope you all had a great Easter & Bank Holiday!

Kevin Jackson, Vice President at George P Johnson recommends when writing your entry you should.......

1. Read the criteria carefully, to be excluded on a technicality (and you will be) is annoying.

2. You need to stand out, be memorable. Tell a story, but make it short, because wading through an ocean of text is hard. Make the key take-outs immediately obvious.

3. Don’t underestimate the value of a great client endorsement.

4. Think about what is background information, and what was key to your success.

5. Videos and images all help tell your story. Results, results, results – the bigger the better.

6. And finally…Sorry to be that guy, but check your spelling, punctuation and grammar.

We're Back Already!

TOP TIPS TUESDAY !
Richard Foulkes, Experimenter at The Paradise Experiment & member of the 2013 C&IT Awards Judging Panel recommends when writing your entry you should....

1. Be a creative storyteller (a judge wants to enjoy the read)

2. Be concise (a judge has to read so many)

3. Follow the rules (the best work can fail on a technicality)

Its that time again!

TOP TIPS TUESDAY!
Sue Etherington, Commercial Director at The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, London & member of the 2013 C&IT Awards Judging Panel recommends when writing your entry you should....

2. Show clear ROI and measurement, and how these tie back to objectives set

TOP TIPS TUESDAY!
Jane Baker, UK Commercial Director at CWT Meetings & Events & member of the C&IT Awards 2013 Judges Panel recommends when writing your entry you should think about......

1. Design: A visually pleasing response is so much easier for me to digest and encourages me to both read on and pay attention. It also tells me that as an entrant, you take the process seriously and are prepared to invest in ensuring your entry wins me over. A plain word document full of copy and with no imagery or design leaves me concerned that you would apply the same creative finish to an event.

2. Video: Being able to see exactly what the event did and looked like is a very powerful tool for judges. I watch the entry video first to get a flavour for the event and then read the description that accompanies it to understand the detail. Every entry I scored as my winner in 2013 came with a video in its submission so this is the competitive benchmark. If you don’t have this as an in-house capability, out-source it.

3. Results: Flawless ex*****on in event delivery is a base line expectation and is unlikely to earn winning marks. I’d like to understand how you married business objectives with the needs of your target audiences to design an experience that suited both parties. Most of all, I want to know why you or your client chose to invest all that money into an event, how you measured its effectiveness and what results you were able to demonstrate. As an industry, we must demonstrate the business benefits of meetings and events to be taken seriously as a marketing discipline.
