SATURDAY 1st JUNE: Serenade
The London Dvořák Ensemble, conducted by Tom Higgins, performs two of the greatest works ever composed for wind ensemble. Mozart’s Serenade No. 10 in Bb, K361 – the Gran Partita – is unique in scale
and in its depth and variety of musical expression; the glorious slow movement featured in the famous play Amadeus. Dvorak’s Serenade in D minor is a typically life-affirming piece, full of Czech colour and as exhilarating to play as it is to hear. DVORAK: Serenade in D minor, Op. 44
