Raise your hand if you love Monday’s!

Surely I’m not the only weirdo who enjoys when Monday rolls around. Or am I?

It’s the one day I designated years ago to do whatever I wanted. Sometimes I work on the business, because you really never get an actual day off if you’re a small business owner. Most of the time I do catch up around the house from doing no cleaning over the weekend, go to the grocery, work in the yard, whatever.

Today I’m cleaning out the bird bath, feeding all my outdoor critters, plucking seed heads off my annual flowers, and just piddling around. And you know what? That’s how I relax! Might sound like a lot of busy work but to me being outside with nature is my meditation. I also might plop down on the couch this afternoon with my laptop and work through wedding photos while playing something mindless on Netflix. I’m sure Flamin’ Hot Cheetos will be included. 🤷‍♀️

So what do you do to relax? Is your relaxation as busy as mine?

This heat has been no joke and today is supposed to be even hotter than the last few. I believe they are saying it might be 95° this afternoon. 🔥😳

I’ll be tucked away inside the cool air, editing photos, and starting to build a wedding timeline.

I’ll also be planning for fall discounted sessions dates, so keep watching for details if you’re wanting to update family photos and don’t need a full session.

Cheers to Friday! Any big plans for the weekend ahead? I’ve got an engagement session tonight. Yay!

I’m not sure what I’m doing Sat & Sun. I’ll be working on editing, obviously, but other than that I’m undecided. Probably some reading, maybe off to the book store for more books, relaxing, who knows.

Whatever you do this weekend please do it safely and have FUN doing it.

I know it’s pretty hot outside but I made a huge pot of chili today. I’ve been wanting some and decided today was the day. I always use my huge stock pot and fill it full so I can divide into freezer bags and have chili in the freezer any time we want some. That’s the only way to do it!

Is there anyone else who does it that way? And am I weird for eating chili on a hot summer day?

What a gorgeous day it’s been. Unfortunately, I have been inside organizing our home office all day instead of enjoying the weather. It needed to be done and I’ve put it off long enough. I mean, we’ve been in our house a year so I can’t use the awesome excuse that we just moved in any longer. 🙄

Another thing I’ve been working on is reorganizing my business. I’ve done a lot of thinking and soul searching where my photography is concerned. I will be raising all pricing for 2022, from mini sessions to wedding coverage. If you are already booked with me for next year nothing will change. If someone books with me for next year by the end of October you will still be able to have my current pricing. This is definitely something I struggle with and I know that I have to start valuing myself and my work more than I already do.

Thank you to everyone who has believed in me and trusted me to document your most important moments.

I absolutely LOVED the colors Anna chose for her wedding last December. She was an absolutely stunning bride surrounded by her tribe. Also, The Lodge has so many beautiful areas for photographs and right in front of the gorgeous fireplace was perfect for this one. The florals were 🔥 always does great work & I highly recommend them.

Most people I know are not fans of the heat we’ve been having, I love it! I can always go inside if I need a cool down but man I hate when summer ends. It was pretty chilly when we got together for their engagement session & I was sporting a sock cap/toboggan/knit cap (whatever you call it) & gloves. Ben was nice enough to warm Alexa’s hands.

My favorite part of wedding day is immediately after the ceremony. I always walk away with the bride & groom to take them away from everyone else for a few moments. This is a great time for them to quietly relish in the fact that they are now husband & wife before heading back to do family portraits. I think my couples love the time away as well.

Who else loves a good swing? I have wanted a swing in my yard for years and I finally have it, actually I’m swinging on it as I type this out. We put it together a couple of weeks ago and I spend so much time out here relaxing. It may be hot outside but it’s pretty cool under the tree canopy with a good breeze coming in off the field. I think I’ll enjoy the swing for a little while longer today until the storms move in.

Use someone you love so you won’t regret it later. I did not hire a professional photographer for my own wedding almost 16 years ago and I’ve regretted it ever since. We don’t have any great images to hang on our walls from our big day. Im not exaggerating when I say that, we seriously have none. Only some snapshots my parents took on a disposable camera & a few shots a friend took. 😭 I’m a walking billboard for why it’s important to hire a professional.

Most of my decorations are taken down and awaiting their new storage totes. I’ve decided to get red and green ones just for Christmas decor. Hopefully they are on clearance tomorrow when I go to the store. 😂

I am getting back to work today. I’ve already finished off one gallery this morning and started on another. Here is a photograph I love from my session last week, but since it’s my son I love every one of them. It’s hard to pick the best out of the session to deliver when the photographers own child is in them.

Jesse & Ashley Bilbrey! Aren’t they perfect? 😍❤️🔥 It’s been an emotional roller coaster going through their photos. During the wedding day I kept putting my cameras down and watching, being in the moment. 💕 I still see him as a little boy even though to most everyone else he looks like a man. Well, he is a man, but you know what I mean. I’ve known him so long that I still see a boy getting into trouble with my boys. A young man trying to figure out where he belongs. Usually December is my slowest month of the year, not this year. It’s actually my busiest and I still have 3 sessions in the next week. It’s been one crazy ride & I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I love what I do!
