"Chase is a four-year-old boy who was born with an incredibly rare genetic condition called Barth Syndrome that has caused his heart to fail... The family now waits for the opportunity to have a required heart transplant... This is a child's life in the balance"

UC student Richard Turpie came across Chase's scenario and decided to help.

He will be running a 100km ultra-marathon around Hagley Park on the 4th of June 2022 to raise money for Chase's family.

To support a family in need and Richard on his journey, donate by following the link.

Here’s a word from UC student, Max Goodwin, on the work his team is doing in the community 🤝

Hey guys,
I’m stoked to be a part of an awesome initiative called Tamai Sports for the third year. The Programme has been running for two years, however, we have recently extended the programme and will be offering so much more for the children in 2021.
This program aims to enable primary school kids in East Christchurch to play rugby, who may not otherwise have the opportunity. To remove barriers, the kids are bussed from their schools to Christ’s College once a week where Ben Hamilton, my flat mates and I train them, before giving them dinner and bussing them all back home. They also play a game on Saturdays, where families are encouraged to come down and support their kids as well as have a barbecue with the community involved.
This year, we have expanded this program to become a registered charity and are operating three rugby teams, reaching over 60 kids, and are looking to include a summer sport module and a music program.

To keep on fuelling this vision free of charge, we need your help. We have set up a Give-a-little page to raise funds, to complement our support from funders and sponsors and grow our resources - https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/tamai-sports-initiative and would love your support at whatever level you can.
Alternatively if you have spare boots or guitars that are in good nick and are willing to give these a second life, we would love for you donate them to the program.

If you want to know more, go check out the Tamai Sports page, or flick me a message to discuss it further.

Cheers
Max
