Das Duo Überbrücken/Bridging bringt jetzt Venedigs Brücken zum Tanzen

Die Monbijoubrücke führt mit ihrem hübschen Doppelbogen am nördlichen Ende der Museumsinsel über die Spree und den Kupfergraben. Panoramaträchtig am Bode Museum gelegen, ist sie vom Wasser aus schön anzusehen und das Wasser von der Brücke aus ebenso.

Hier erwartet uns die letzte Berliner Aufführung der energiegeladenen, farbenfrohen und witzigen Tanzserie von DasÜberbrücken/Bridging mit Megumi Eda und Nadja Haas (www.dasuworld.com/). Das Duo bringt zeitgenössischen Tanz an besondere Orte der Stadt, wie 2020 die Performances auf der Admiralsbrücke. Ein Veranstaltungsort, der während der Pandemie begann, um Menschen tanzend zu begegnen.

Die Performances finden immer direkt auf der Brücke statt. Es gibt keine Handlung, aber ein roter Faden durchzieht das Agieren der Tänzerinnen, die ihre Individualitäten abbilden, die sich vereinen und wieder auseinandergehen. Die beiden Frauen bewegen sich frei und sie holen sich ihre Befreiung, indem sie sich mit dieser männlichen Ikone - der Brücke - auseinandersetzen. Dabei verschmelzen ihre Bewegungen mit der Architektur des Bauwerks. Neue Zusammenhänge werden erforscht, Irritationen geschaffen. "Überall erwarten uns Überraschungen", so Megumi Eda. Sie und ihre Partnerin Nadja Haas verzichteten bewusst auf Theaterkulisse und Rampenlicht. Es ging darum Nähe zu schaffen und die Corona Zeit zu überbrücken. "Der Ort soll so pur bleiben, wie er ist“, sagt Haas. Die Tänzerinnen wollten, dass die Besucher sich ungezwungen auf dem Platz arrangieren und zum Geschehen eine lebende Kulisse bilden.

Immer sind ihre Performances orts- und zeitspezifisch. So beschreitet das Duo mit seinen Körperinstallationen neue Wege der sozialen und kulturellen Interaktion mit dem internationalen, Berliner und Kiez-Publikum. Welche Bühne wäre geeigneter für dieses Thema als eine Brücke?

Das sah auch Ausstellungsmacherin Veronica Piras von der ItsLiquid Group (www.itsliquid.com) so und lud die Tänzerinnen kurzerhand zu Outdoor-Performances nach Venedig ein, wo sie im Rahmen der Contemporary Venice 2021 – The Secret Garden vom 15. Oktober bis 5. November auf drei verschiedenen Brücken zu sehen sein werden. "Ein toller Ort. Wir sind begeistert", findet Haas. "Der zeitgenössische Tanz soll sich weiterentwickeln, denn er vermittelt als Gesamtkunstwerk interessante Hör- und Seherlebnisse."

Nun geht zumindest in Berlin die ungewöhnliche Brücken-Tanzserie am Freitag , den 29. Oktober auf der Monbijoubrücke zu Ende. Man darf aber gespannt sein, was das Duo im Gepäck hat, wenn es aus Venedig zurückkehrt!

#51 Performance / 29 July 2021 “Architecturices of the body” This is the idea of building a building with our body and making shapes. The expression of going step by step toward a goal. It’s also the pursuit of linear and geometric movement and it symbolizes that art is necessary and practical.

We (Nadja Haas and Megumi Eda - 朶恵) happened to meet at a friend's birthday party in a park in early August 2020, when Berlin was released from lockdown for a moment. We hit it off right away, and since August 13th 2020, we have been performing every single Thursday no matter what from 5pm to 5:30 pm at "Admiralsbrücke" where people are allowed to gather and have public and social interaction. We are proud to mark our first year anniversary soon, and at the same time we will close this first chapter with our performance on August 12th. 3 performances left including today.

Nadja and Megumi

Like many others, in this pandemic we performing artists have nowhere to go perform, discuss, watch. We are "lost" for a moment. Now we're trying to find a new way to keep going. Nadja had been looking through her window since March and found that the bridge seen through the window of her apartment every day could be a great stage for performances. "Admiralbrücke", Berlin's unique bridge is a free space, where people can come together with tacit consent and do anything where there is still public and social interaction. Our goal is to accept this new normal without hesitation, continue as performers, and think about what we can do through our site-specific body installations to satisfy deep social needs in an isolated era.

Since August 13th Megumi and Nadja have been performing / improvising every Thursday between 5 and 6 p.m without prior notice, no matter what. There is a sense of satisfaction that cannot be expressed in not knowing what is going to happen and struggling and also getting lost for a while. This is how Das Überbrücken/Bridging was born.
