We recently shared about Calgary Stampede Foundation Youth Artist Poster Competition.

The competition is running now and applications are open until December 1st! Find application details over on our last young artists post! ➡️

We wanted to share last years winner Brooklyn Payne and her showing her work to this summer inside Doherty Hall.

The Poster depicts three Stampede Showriders in their distinctive western uniforms, performing their unique musical ride upon their horses.

When Brooklyn was creating their artwork for the Poster Competition, they said they were inspired by what the Stampede stands for, and the Showriders themselves.

“My first inspiration was the idea of community, which is so central to the Calgary Stampede. The second was the image of the Showriders. There’s something theatrical about them – they put on performances all throughout the Stampede, and they wear a quite visually striking ensemble that I really wanted to try my hand at painting,” says Brooklyn.

We can’t wait to see the incredible art that gets created for this year’s competition. 😊

Calling all young artists! 🎨 Applications for the 2025 Calgary Stampede Poster Competition are now open for Alberta residents aged 15-24. All 2D mediums are welcome and no formal art background is required.

Artists will also have the unique opportunity to learn and elevate their skills through masterclass workshops taught by experienced local artists, and to win educational scholarships.

We are so excited to be featured in the latest issue of Create Calgary magazine. They put together an amazing article on Calgary's Ecosystem of Art Spaces.

They featured 28 spots around Calgary where art happens and spaces that support local artists. We are number 20 on the list; go check it out!

In Create Calgary magazine you can read all about about artists spurring social change, the journey to become a music city, organizations empowering youth through arts, Indigenous arts and culture on the fashion runway, and more.

Pick up your free copy of Create Calgary at public libraries, community recreation centres, and other places where you find your favourite magazines. You can also read a digital version online.

Did you know that the BMO Amphitheatre is a 2000 ft2 outdoor creative space with a dedicated green room and built in amenities. With the capacity of up to 800 audience members, the Amphitheatre can accommodate medium and large events.

Let’s do a Calgary Stampede recap!

We had the opportunity to hangout with all of the performers who practice on the Calgary Stampede Campus year round and watching them come to life over the last 10 days was nothing short of magical!

Here the performs during the rodeo intermission.

Showband on the steps!

The practices here on campus but they do a number of different performances during Stampede!

One of them is on the front steps of the Scotiabank Saddledome twice daily! If you get a chance to catch one of their performances we 10/10 recommend you do!

Catch them tonight at 8:30pm and tomorrow at 1:30pm & 8:30pm for some of their last performances.
