Ryan Nelson is an ordained minister in Charleston, South Carolina and its surrounding areas. Email her at [email protected]. She is ordained by the American Marriage Ministries - a non-profit, interfaith and non-denominational constitutional church that is Federally Recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)3 Public Charitable Organization. Drawing on the freedom of religion clause in the United States Constitution, AMM provides free ordination, advocacy, and training for our ministers to ensure that all people have the right to get married and to perform marriage. To date, we have ordained over 687,095 ministers across the United States who have officiated more than 250,000 wedding ceremonies.
Choosing an officiant should be as simple as finding someone that shares the coupleโs values and beliefs. So, while ordination is an important step, it should not be restricted to individuals that are able to dedicate the long hours and thousands of dollars that many churches demand, especially when it comes to officiating marriages because those costs are ultimately passed on to the couple.
AMM offers an alternative. Our ordination is not contingent upon declaring your exclusive faith and devotion to us, or any other institution. If you have a good-faith intent to perform marriage and, and are committed to upholding our values in this capacity, then we gladly welcome you into our ministry.
American Marriage Ministries is an IRS Certified 501c3 non-profit, non-denominational constitutional church that was established on July 4th of 2009. We are headquartered in Washington state, have ministers across the country, and maintain corporate filings in states where required. We work closely with government offices across the country to ensure that our ministers rights to officiate weddings are recognized.
