Sadly this is the only photo I took from last night’s French Riviera dinner - we had to scram before the surprise bday girl arrived!! Pissaladière takes me straight back to living in France (sigh). Hailing from Provence, this dish packs a punch- onions caramelized for 2+ hours, umami anchovies and briney Nicoise olives combined with a buttery crust. Not for the faint hearted, but it is soooo good!!

After two months of denial, it is time to announce: the Marina kitchen is permanently closed.
It was hard to talk about it without knowing what lay across the horizon. Now it seems clear that nothing will be like before, with the opportunity to be much, much better. Here’s our chance to change our relationship to food and the people who grow and raise it. Let’s take that chance! This wont’t be the last Cookdrop kitchen, not by a long shot, but it will always be the first. Thanks to every beautiful soul who walked through these doors and made this girl’s dreams come true 💫

I’m not normally one to promote $5,000 appliances, but boy this convection steam oven works better than I could have imagined! In light of transparency, I must admit I often have trouble keeping my crust upright- normally it is sagging, drooping, and melting off within minutes of putting it in the oven. Not so with this culinary delight! It produced a flaky crust and creamy apples. An absolute pleasure to use. Next stop: roast chicken.
