Dolphin:

An integral part of the hardcore dance music scene since the early 90s, Dolphin started writing electronic music way back in 1986 with an Atari computer, a Yamaha keyboard and a Roland drum machine. Already an avid young record collector with an eclectic taste in music, he bought his first pair of turntables and started learning to mix in 1988, just as early acid house and techno started taking off in the clubs. After becoming increasingly involved in the club and dance music scene of the early nineties, he opened 3rd Planet Records in 1994, arguably one the best hardcore record shops in the UK in the mid nineties. Gigs soon followed and he built a solid reputation as a DJ, playing some of the biggest raves in the UK at the time. This lead to bookings abroad and it wasn’t long before he was headlining parties all over Europe.

He has had countless releases and remixes since over the last 20+ years on labels like The Third Movement, PRSPCT, Deathchant, Industrial Strength, Pacemaker, Ninja Columbo, Motormouth as well as the legendary, cutting edge electronica label Planet Mu. In 20011 he started his own label, Komplex Kommunications (or KomKoms for short), to release a more emotive style of hardcore.

Greg is a resident and part of the crew at Oblivion Underground. With over 25 years of experience DJing and producing behind him, Dolphin has played countless clubs and parties as well as playing at some of the world’s most distinguished outdoor electronic music festivals like Dominator, DefQon, Glade and Boomtown.

Hollie Anthwax

Hollie Anthwax has been an integral part of the underground scene in the UK since 2007. As a regular at events like Bang Face, Balter, Boomtown and most recently PRSPCT XL, Hollie has a reputation for extremely tight dance-floor sets, all delivered on turntables. Hollie also manages the very successful Fractal events in the north of England, is an active member of the West Yorkshire Jungle Collective and also hosts the Nanashi Disco events, pushing the weird and wonderful sounds coming out of Japan.

Chosen Few was initially a group project led by François Prijt and his friends. In the mid-1980s, Prijt was introduced to electro. After his parents bought him a Commodore 64 computer, he began creating computer music with it. A few years later, he primarily delved into hip-hop and drum 'n' bass on the Commodore Amiga. In 1989, he also acquired his first Technics SL1200 turntables.

By the end of 1991, Prijt transitioned to hardcore DJing and became a resident DJ at Club Amnesia in Amsterdam's Red Light District. On his birthday, February 5th, 1993, he signed his first record deal with Mokum Records, resulting in Mokum's third release, "Chosen Few - Freedom," which also appeared on the first Thunderdome CD release.

With over 100 releases on various labels, and appearances at hardcore festivals such as Dominator and Masters of Hardcore, DJ Chosen Few will be bringing his hard-hitting, underground sound to London to celebrate 30 years of Mokum Records.

Traffik is a Hardcore-Techno-Breakbeat producer and DJ from South London in the UK.
Inspired by the Hip Hop culture of the mid 1980’s, Traffik taught himself the art of cutting and scratching and became involved with local rappers jamming at house parties and early warehouse gigs.

Around 1989 the acid house scene was in full swing in the UK and Traffik began to take an interest in the music and started buying the records. By 1991 Traffik had moved away from the Hip Hop scene and was DJing techno and breakbeat at various underground parties around London and the South East of England.

In 1993 Traffik became involved with one of London’s largest pirate radio stations, Energy FM, and was one of a small group of London’s first underground radio DJs to play hardcore, industrial techno and gabber on his regular Saturday night show.

Following this, Traffik took his musical talents to the studio and began working on producing tracks. His first release was the track “Under Attack” on Outcast Clan Records in 1995. Shortly after this came his release on Crapshoot Records which gained him international recognition and in 1995 travelled to Austria to perform his first DJ set outside of the UK.

Very early on Traffik was fusing drum and bass breaks with hardcore techno, producing hard hitting breakbeat driven core tracks and pushing the boundaries with heavily distorted industrial tracks. Traffik has earned himself world-wide recognition as a pioneer and innovator.

Tellurian grew up in 1980s Amsterdam and was a member of the hip-hop crew Digital Power. Like many of us, he first discovered house, acid, techno, hardcore, and gabber through illegal house parties and released his first vinyl record in 1992 with The TOF Band.

Starting off his hardcore career releasing on Mokum Records from 1993, Michel went on to found Cenobite Records in 1996 with releases under his new alias Leviathan which became synonymous with hard, fast, and melodic hardcore.

Having played at many clubs and festivals over the last 30 years including Hellraiser, Thunderdome and Ground Zero, we are excited to welcome Tellurian to London this month to celebrate 30 years of Mokum Records.

Hailing from the underground of London's squat party scene, Czap, a seasoned resident of soundsystems Mad Forest Cru and Redtek found his musical journey naturally gravitating toward the harder edges of electronic soundscapes.

Rooted in his Dutch and British heritage, Czap is interested in how rave scenes from the 2 countries in the 90s influenced eachother, particularly how heavily breakbeats featured in the "Early Rave" sound of labels such as Mokum and Ruffneck. Expect a barrage of breakbeats and 909 kicks when he braces the decks, bringing your mind, body, and soul back to the mid-90s.

Daniele Scaccia's journey into the realms of techno, acid, and hardcore started in the late nineties. His exploration of the scene began alongside his twin brother, collectively known as The Twins Artcore.

Venturing into the hardcore scene of Rome, Rimini, and Brescia in 2004, the twins embarked on a career that would see them releasing their debut Mokum EP "Return of Artcore" (MOK 117) in 2008.

Playing their last show together in 2015, Danieles twin Guiseppe left to focus on his techno productions while Daniele went on to form Overdrive Records alongside Formek.

Hughesee regularly plays sets on radio and at events in the UK. He has been organising events under the name Distant Planet with his partner Louise Plus One for the last 12 years, with a focus on Jungle, Breakbeat Hardcore, and Techno.

He has played for events including Bangface Weekender, The Rave Story, Demoliton Squad, Hardcore Hangin’, Calling the Hardcore, Brazemania, and A Proper Jungle Experience, to name a few.

His journey into dance music started in 1991 when he discovered pirate radio, got the bug for collecting vinyl, and started his journey into DJing in 1992.

Through attending legal events such as Technodrome at Helter Skelter, North, Live Evil, and also attending UK Free Parties, his passion for the harder sounds grew, and he would spend countless hours seeking out records from Music & Video Exchanges and other record shops in London and getting the latest releases from Underground Music & Phuture Rave.

He is looking forward to playing at This Thing of Ours' second event with an all-killer, no-filler set of hardcore gems back-to-back with Traffik!

One of the founders of the hardcore scene, DJ Dano started out playing on various pirate radio stations in 1984. One night he decided to visit Amsterdams legendary Roxy club, Dano was very sceptical about this whole new scene called dance. Four hours later, sweaty and tired, he realised that he had be dancing non-stop. “After my experience at the Roxy, I realised that I was sold and that electronic music was my calling.” From then on he got his own show called ‘Acid Explosion’ on a local radio station and soon after that became a resident DJ at the Mazzo club.

In 1992 the dance scene exploded on a massive scale. During a colossal house party in Utrecht, Dano performed with his colleagues Buzz Fuzz, Gizmo and the Prophet. There and then marked the birth of the legendary ‘Dreamteam’. This hardcore party was the beginning of the immense hardcore scene and in a short period of time he grew to be one of leading proponents of hardcore music.

Having had a career that has taken him to all the major hardcore parties such as Hellraiser and Thunderdome, we welcome him to a sweaty North London nightclub to celebrate 30 years of Mokum Records.

The word “Gabber” (if the internet is to be believed) originates from the Dutch for friend, and to us that’s what hardcore music is. It’s our community, it’s our mates.

This Thing of Ours that we call hardcore music - it belongs to all of us.

It belongs to the DJs, the door staff, the visual artists, the promoters, the tech crew and to each and every person that dances with us and helps make hardcore parties happen.
