As the article said, Sinéad has written to the local branch of the Australian Hotels Association NSW seeking to meet and discuss how we can work together to implement the campaign’s ideas. More updates when we hear back or when there is other news.

The 'Newcastle: Let's raise the bar' petition calls on venues to develop a "s*xual harassment and assault prevention and response policy" and to "ensure all staff including security are trained in this policy".

Supporters of this campaign are asking venues in Newcastle to:

-Develop a s*xual harassment/assault prevention and response policy (if your venue does not have one)

-Ensure all staff including security are trained in this policy

-Use signage and other methods to communicate to clientele what they should do if they experience or witness an incident

-Publicly commit to maintaining a harassment-free venue

-Keep a log of s*xual harassment incidents

-Engage with appropriate organisations to establish best practice
