Today is the day! I can’t believe it’s finally here. After more than a year’s worth of work and love, our very first own club night is happening ✨

It feels like a full circle moment. After the first steps on the dancefloor ten or so years ago, followed by crawling behind the decks as a dj, to now being a facilitator of the magic room that I love so much.

Just like a great mission in your favorite game, it does resembles facing the end boss and it’s definitely not for the faint hearted. I’m a bit overwhelmed by emotions (it could also be the sleep deprivation, honestly 🤠) but mostly I’m just super excited to see it all click tonight.

The Gradient to me resembles a place where we can hit pause on the hectics and demands life can bring upon us, and join together in a conscious collaboration of making new memories.

With me and as gatekeepers for the music, and inviting powers like ,  &  to the roster, the first condition for that is set. The second is providing an adventurous but comfortable space (all with the great help of - you da real mvp 🫶). The last ingredient is you. The humans that contribute to filling the Gradient with unforgettable energy.

Yeah, I know, this has become a bit sentimental maybe, but that’s me. Stay tuned for more emotions in the thank you speech 🙃

The travelling club for music nerds is ready for the next gathering! After a great edition at Paak Vinyl Bar I am now hosting the second Blank Space at De Basis.

An intimate gathering for all music lovers in Nijmegen - where we share music, stories and anecdotes, hosted by yours truly.

This edition will take place on Wednesday, November 29 at 20:00 at De Basis, another staple of the city - because how many great music has been played in the former Doornroosje? Exactly, never too much.

The theme to get us started is “main character”. Think about your favorite movie, or just the soundtrack that accompanies your life everyday and gives you that main character energy.

I’m very curious what piece of music pops up in your head. If you have one, great! Bring it on usb, vinyl or on your mobile device through Spotify. We will listen to it, share our thoughts and stories and see how the evening unfolds.

Tomorrow I am back at Open Source Radio - back in my little green safe space of sharing music and stories with you! 💚

The only thing notable to say today is that I’ve decided to go further with the show under a new name and new perspective. You may guess already what it is: The Blank Space.

After deciding to launch the listening group I felt it would be more synergetic to let my radio show be an extension of that. It allows me to create and share more freely, which I am very excited about.

Last week I’ve shared my emotions around music and the power of storytelling through the medium. When I prepare and play my sets, I always try to incorporate this also as much as possible. Since I’ve started my residency Open Source Radio last year, I’ve discovered I like to take it one step further than just me behind the decks. It’s just very simple: I love music and I sure as hell love talking about it. So why not do this together?

Welcome to The Blank Space, an intimate gathering for all music lovers in Nijmegen - where we share music, stories and anecdotes, hosted by yours truly. After I visited a listening group myself for the first time, I was so filled with enthusiasm and a great urge to bring this also to our city. After doing a small trial run and seeing the magical connection of the group, I’m so pleased to go live for real!

I’ve teamed up with Paak Vinyl Bar for the first edition, which will take place on Wednesday, October 4 at 20:00. The cosiest place in Nijmegen that just breathes music.

So how does it work exactly? I provide a prompt for the music you can bring to the group, just to get us started. For this first one, the theme is “coming home”. Music for me is a way of travel. A blank space filled with memories that has the ability to connect us through space and time.

The beginning of September is always a significant part of the year for me, with the anniversaries of both of my parents’ death. As I grow older, the actual memories unfortunately do fade, and more questions seem to arise to the surface. In the acceptance of not knowing and surrendering to that grief, I find solace in the musical memories I have with them, that are so vivid and easy to recall.

Listening to “Djobi, Djoba” by the Gipsy Kings with my father in his dark blue Volkswagen Passat (any Balkan human out here knows that logically was his dearest pride and possession), him driving me to streetdance class where I first got to know the concept of mixed tracks. A bit uncomfortably looking at my mother dancing in the living room to Dino Merlin as a teenager, wishing she could stop being such a silly mom.

They were both avid music lovers, party starters and hosters of infamous sit-down-eat-and-smoke soirées (a.k.a. “sjelo”) at the Munnenkenstraat in Someren - where I sometimes would barge in demanding to “finally listen to some Spice Girls for god’s sake”.

These memories shape me, our family and the music we still listen to. I find that element of storytelling such an amazing power of music, because it is honoring the total experience of what being human means and can connect without using much or any words.

Following this love, I am working on something fun and exciting in Nijmegen that I will share more about soon. For now, I’ll be dancing silly in my living room and driving in my blue Aygo, feeling like that apple did not fall far from the tree. ❤️

Hiiiii people! August has been wet and grey thusfar, but better times are coming ahead with great news from our Gradient: we are hosting the second stage at Ponton Festival on August 12 🌞

I am so stoked and pleased that we can light up another space in Nijmegen with our warm and adventurous tunes. It has been a joy preparing this together with Tim Stone, Juul Lankfeld and the lads from Hubert and by inviting Ferry Mutch to join us on the roster it is gonna be something not to miss. This refugee baby here also tends to take her freedom for granted sometimes. It’s a feeling of safety I am conscious about and immensely grateful for. Not just today, but any day - because still to this date unfortunately it ain’t that obvious.

I don’t know about you guys, but for me this time is truly the beginning of a new year. The breath of fresh air after a period of cosying up inside, longer days to experience more in and seeing the world around you unfold in brighter colours.. *chef’s kiss*

Because that’s the energy I’m in right now, I want to dedicate next Friday’s episode of Reminisce Radio to new beginnings. Expect music that fits this fresh and light vibe - but there will also be room for some melancholy, since beginnings also mark endings.

I can’t believe it’s already one year in the making since I’ve started this residency at Open Source Radio. It has been such a beautiful platform to share my musical journey through, and because of it I’ve also started to hone in my position as a storyteller more and more. As an artist it is so fulfilling and exciting to step into these creative journeys and see where it will take and evolve you, so I can’t be more grateful for the opportunity each and every time ❤️
