Custer State Park will be chip sealing the Wildlife Loop Road beginning Monday, June 17, 2024

Work will begin on the Blue Bell side of the loop and work eastward to the Game Lodge side. The road will remain open during this time, however, traffic will be reduced to one lane and guided through the project with the use of flaggers and a pilot car.

A delay of up to 15 minutes can be expected while traveling through the work area during daytime hours.

Homemade Cheese Sauce

Homemade Cheese Sauce is a creamy, cheesy delight. Made with real cheese, butter, and milk, it boasts a rich, indulgent flavor and silky-smooth texture perfect for drizzling over vegetables, nachos, or pasta.

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup whole milk
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a mix)
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
Salt and black pepper to taste

Directions:
In a saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
Add the all-purpose flour to the melted butter and whisk continuously for about 1-2 minutes to create a roux (a thickening agent).
Gradually pour in the whole milk while whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
Cook the mixture, stirring continuously, until it starts to thicken, about 3-5 minutes.
Reduce the heat to low and add the shredded cheese to the sauce, a little at a time, stirring until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
If using, add the garlic powder for extra flavor. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Once the cheese has melted completely and the sauce has reached your desired consistency, remove it from the heat.
