Focus on the Experience

Weddings are continuing to evolve and shift but I feel the one change that is here to stay is; smaller weddings that focus on the entire experience.

Covid, inflation and couples not wanting “the cookie cutter wedding” are what is forcing this shift. Over the last few years I have experienced this change at my venue with some weddings, but this past year it’s every wedding we have hosted.

The couples I work with want a stress free day, to spend less, have smaller guest counts; only close friends and family, they want to be present, they want the food, drinks, music and ceremony to completely reflect who they are as a couple.

Many couples no longer care so much about tradition, in fact they want it excluded from their wedding.

Here are some of the new normal traditions I am seeing;
A first look, private vows , no bouquet toss, no special dances, non traditional music, minimal florals, all inclusive weddings; they just show up, catering; serve their favorite foods, pizza, grazing boards, taco bars, and interactive food, dry weddings, dessert bars instead of cake, lawn games, hang out connection time, documentary style photos, more candids, no wedding attendants, bride and groom es**rt each other, non gender/ non ownership ceremony scripts that reflect their story, private ceremony with a guest reception following, early exits and post wedding parties.

I personally feel this is a very nice refreshment to the wedding industry. Couples can now completely enjoy their day and it feels like it’s about them and not everyone else.

With this new wedding style every wedding is completely different, that makes it really fun and the photos are always incredible!

Summer Weddings that Beat The Heat

Right now we are all sizzling from the heat wave all over the country. Many of you have weddings planned for the summer and many of you want a summer wedding in the future.
How do you have a beautiful summer wedding, keep everyone safe from the heat, and actually enjoy your day?
Here are some tips and ideas.

-Have a morning wedding followed by brunch so you are not in the heat of the afternoon.
-Have a sunset wedding.
-Have an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception.
-Give out individual misting fans as guest favors.
-Have tasty refreshing non alcoholic drinks available.
-Rent mist fans to blow on all outdoor areas used.
-If the venue is not air conditioned, rent commercial air conditioners.
-Provide cooling towels.
-Serve appetizers and food that is light and refreshing.
-Tell your guests to dress casual and comfy.
-Have an area for older guests and guests that may be more vulnerable to the heat.
-Embrace the heat and know you're going to be a bit uncomfortable but hey, it’s your wedding day!

“We loved with a love that was more than love.” —Edgar Allan Poe …… finding real true love and your soul mate is not something we all get to experience. It is a rare gift and these two found each other and we got to be part of their adventure elopement. It was an honor to marry two people with so much love for each other that the love overflows onto everyone around them. The hike, the weather, the rain, the laughter and the porch picnic was epic!
