I was so honoured to be asked to create farewell tributes for someone’s sister and auntie. Their only request was something pretty and natural in blue and yellow. The heart shaped tribute and wreath was created using silver birch branches and sustainable sourced moss adorned with flowers grown on my field. All totally biodegradable. It was a very thoughtful and strangely calm experience. It made me realise that flowers at a funeral do give loved ones something to focus on at such an emotional time.
Just back from a short break to Corfu with my bestie. Weather was amazing ! Feeling energised and ready to get back to my flower field! A bit worried about what l might find after all the rain 😬.

Early birthday celebrations in Kefalonia for our lovely daughter, Chloe. Fabulous holiday with my very special sister Jayne, hubby Den and daughter Cherry. My amazing husband, Chris, stayed at home to look after my flower field and allotment. He assures me everything is alive and doing well! Can’t wait to see him and my flowers tomorrow.

Well, if you saw my last post about decorating the iconic RHS Letters at the Malvern Spring Festival, here they are finished! team have done an amazing job and continue to maintain the flowers over the hot weekend. Really excited to let you all know that l am part of a team of flower farmers and florists from the West Midlands region of Flowers From The Farm, who have been selected to decorate the iconic RHS letters at the Malvern Show, which opens on Thursday May 9th. The build starts today and has been designed by the very talented Nicola . We will be creating the structure from willow and decorating with locally grown flowers, seed heads and grasses. Our aim is to illustrate a year in the life of a flower farmer. I hope you can come along and have your photograph taken in front of the letters with the gorgeous Malvern Hills as the back drop. However, l can call upon my trusted fellow British flower growers in milder parts of the country, to provide me with additional beautiful,seasonal blooms and foliage to meet my customer orders. There will be a high demand for these gorgeous tulips and l am required to pre-order from the flower growers to avoid disappointment.

Yesterday l planted my tulip bulbs. Eight varieties this year including those in pics from last year. They were more like peonies than tulips! I just loved them and so did my customers.
I treat them as annuals and pull each bulb up to order. This maximises the stem length and makes them very versatile when arranging. It also means l can immerse myself in bulb catalogues next year and start all over again 😍
No flower field work tomorrow. I’m attending the West Midlands regional meeting. We meet up a few times a year to share ideas, talk about what flowers have grown well and generally give each other support. Flower farming can be a lonely business so it’s really great to meet up with fellow flower farmers.
My next task will be to plant out my pre-sprouted ranunculus. I’ll give a little up-date on that soon 😊
