💋Did you know that lips don’t have oil or sweat glands, which causes them to dry out faster than the skin on the rest of our body?

💋As we get older, our lips gradually get smaller. This is a natural part of aging, as our bodies produce less collagen, which decreases the volume and plumpness of our pout. This also makes the vermilion border aka the Cupid’s bow less pronounced.

💋If you’re not sure why your lips are always chapped, some common culprits you might not have considered include: eating salty or spicy foods, habitually licking your lips, certain acne medications like Accutane and topical treatments like benzoyl peroxide, retinol or salicylic acid coming into contact with your lips. And be careful of some lip balms, they may contain camphor which could dry out your lips or cause contact dermatitis.

If you’re not wearing sunscreen we need to talk. 😳 We need spf every single day.

Did you know that spf numbers do not layer? What I mean by that is if you have 30 in your moisturizer and 15 in your primer, you are NOT wearing spf 45. You’re wearing the one closest to your skin. Spf 30 is what dermatologist recommend for your face protection.

Did you know that spf 50 catches less rays than spf 30?! 🤯 I recently learned the science behind that and was shocked. ALSO did you know that any spf over 50 is just a rip off?? Sunscreen can’t have more than a 50 spf but companies are happy to make ones with “more” to take your 💵.

Puffiness under the eyes can be caused by several factors🫢🫢🫢:

👁 Fluid retention:

When excess fluid accumulates in the delicate tissues around the eyes, it can cause puffiness. This can happen due to various reasons such as high salt intake, dehydration, hormonal changes, allergies, sinus problems, or even crying.

👁 Fatigue and lack of sleep:

Insufficient sleep or poor quality of sleep can lead to fluid retention and blood vessel dilation, resulting in puffy eyes. Lack of sleep can also make the skin appear paler, making the blood vessels under the eyes more noticeable.

👁Aging:

As we age, the skin loses elasticity and COLLAGEN, which can cause the skin around the eyes to sag and become puffy. The fat that normally supports the eyes can also migrate forward, creating a puffy appearance.

👁Allergies:

Allergic reactions can cause inflammation and swelling, including around the eyes. Common allergens like pollen, dust mites, pet dander, or certain cosmetics can trigger this response.(And It's that time of year)

👁 Sinus congestion:

When the sinuses are congested due to a cold, allergies, or sinusitis, it can lead to increased pressure and fluid retention around the eyes, resulting in puffiness.

👁Genetics:

Some individuals may have a genetic predisposition to under-eye puffiness. Inherited factors can influence the structure of the skin and the fat distribution around the eyes, making puffiness more prominent.

👁Lifestyle factors:

Unhealthy lifestyle habits like excessive alcohol consumption, smoking, a diet high in sodium, or dehydration can contribute to fluid retention and puffiness under the eyes.
