I got married last October in a small intimate occasion. I asked one of my closest friends, Tommy, to officiate the wedding. He wrote an incredibly thoughtful and well told script, weaving in common interests, and other elements of who we are.
Our wedding was in Paris, and Tommy quickly became our MC as well as backup coordinator. Our wedding was small - we didn’t plan for an MC. But when it came time for getting the group moving, Tommy quickly took charge, grabbed the mic, and made the necessary announcements. One key area he helped was getting the different groups together for photos; only someone who knew our friends and family would be able yo do that.
As an officiant, I’ve also been a ceremony coordinator, and an MC. Planned, and unplanned. It’s important to have experience attending and helping at weddings to know how to keep a crowd engaged and moving on to the next activities!
