Friends themed wedding cake - I can't wait for the reunion! 😁

This is a chocolate cake with vanilla swiss meringue buttercream and crushed oreos.

I made this cake for a LOVELY client who sent me a picture of a cake but wanted a few amendments to match her clothes on her wedding day - some burgundy flowers and burgundy accents on an ivory base🌹

Day 5 of the series - 2020

The Ultimate Mosque Cake! It was huge and took an absolute age to make. I think it took me about 10 days because it was Ramadan and everything was just taking me that little bit longer.

I did all the components but wanted the walls to get as hard as possible before I put them up so I left the assembling part to the last minute and prayed the walls wouldn't collapse on me. Once the assembling part was done, this is how it looked 👆

This cake took me 1 week to make and I was still finishing it off on Eid day!

I told my dad to keep the kids in the front room so they can see it once it's ready - so what did he do? He told them to stay in the front, came in the back room himself, took a picture of the unfinished cake and showed it to them 😂 Technically, he kept his promise!

After all that work, Anayah came in and said 'Oh, I wanted a Sofia The First Cake' 😂

Day 3 of the series - 2019

I remember telling the kids that I had only made them cupcakes this year. Their faces when they saw the cake - priceless!

There were a LOT of firsts with this cake. Where do I start?! I started by getting the stripes, butterflies and frames ready so they could be printed on edible paper. Then it was time to learn new wafer paper and sugarpaste techniques for all the flowers. Thin wafer paper is not the way to go - it works but tears very easily. Now that all the little components were ready, it was time to assemble. 😊

How stunning are these fresh flowers!?

This cake is covered in a cream coloured swiss meringue buttercream to create a neutral base. Shades of pink and purple have been layered on top to match these beautiful flowers. 💐

A little gold lustre dust was added at the end - what is cake without a little sparkle?! ✨
