THE CHERRY ORCHARD

After a prolonged absence following the death of her son, noblewoman Lyobov Ranevskaya returns to her home and finds the cherry orchard on the estate in full bloom. Despite the outward sign of prosperity, she is on the verge of financial ruin. Along with her brother, Gaev, Lyobov struggles to maintain the facade of gentility as their world crumbles around them. Considered one of the great classic works of Russian theatre, this production will feature the work of BYU’s senior BFA acting students.

MY CANTUS VALENTINE

Working without a conductor, the members of Cantus rehearse and perform as chamber musicians, each contributing to the entirety of the artistic process, creating programs that give voice to shared human experiences. This “engaging” (The New Yorker) low-voice ensemble is widely known for its trademark warmth and blend, innovative programming, and riveting performances of music ranging from the Renaissance to the 21st century.

Henry V is the tale of King Henry’s incredible success during the Hundred Years’ War between France and England. Against overwhelming odds, the worn and weary underdog England soundly beats proud France and gains the crown of France for England. Adapted for BYU’s Young Company, Henry V invites audiences young and old to contemplate how we might come together as a human family during times of disharmony.

Eddie Carswell and Leonard Ahlstrom, both BYU alumni with degrees in music, are the creative minds behind the beloved Christmas song “The Christmas Shoes.” They cowrote the song for their music group, NewSong 🎤🎶, who helped bring this holiday classic to life. Together, they transformed a simple story into a timeless favorite. 🌟
This is a perfect example of how have entered to learn and gone forth to serve!
