Yesterday, Tom played with South West of Scotland Piping and Drumming Academy at the Annan Christmas Lights Committee, turn on at Annan town centre.
The band played up the street in front of Santa, and before this, they warned up the spectators at a street performance.

Last weekend, Tom, Maisie & I performed with Dumfries Pipe Band's Ceilidh night, we had a great evening with friends and family.
We mostly all performed in our own kilt's which was quite refreshing change.

Recently Dumfries High School - Official recognised Maisie for playing with the South West of Scotland Piping and Drumming Academy and being placed second at this years Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust Junior C category at Kilmarnock earlier this year. SWSPDA were also awarded the Eilidh MacLeod Endevour Award in recognision for their innovation to include everyone regardless of circumstance.
Maisie also plays with Dumfries Pipe Band, where she played at three major competitions this summer

Last week, Tom played the pipes at Dumfries High School - Official Senior Prizegiving ceremony, where he received a certificate for his bagpiping achievements during this last year.
He also received awards for effort in Higher Math, Classical Studies, acknowledgement for volunteering for raising money for Dumfries Pipe Band, and Dumfries Charity Tractor Road Run.

Early last month, Maisie and i competed at the World Pipe Band Championships in the Grade 4B competition with Dumfries Pipe Band, a great experience for us both.
We are looking forward to next year's season.

Maisie & I competed at the European Pipe band championship at Perth's South Inches on the 11th of August, another good experience.

Last week, Maisie was out with the South West of Scotland Piping and Drumming Academy at the Meeting of the Clans in Annan.
Members from all areas of Dumfries and galloway played at the event. The SWSPDA support the youngsters in developing their playing through tutoring at the schools, and event held throughout the year.

Maisie & I were at Dumbarton yesterday with Dumfries Pipe Band competing in the Scottish Pipe Band Championship, we qualified for the final bug unfortunately we didn't get a prize, finally being placed 9th overall. A great experience.

No prize today. But a qualification for a major final is a huge step forward! Fantastic to see so many of our young players making their debut at a major championship. Onward and upwards!!

Last night, Maisie was out playing for the Guid Nychburris Association for the Queen of the Sout Ball at the The Cairndale Hotel & Spa, where the Queen of the South Lucy Galligan and all her attendants enjoyed their evening.

We would like to wish Cornet Ross Boyd, Cornets Lass Caitlin McKenzie, and our very own Queen, Lucy Galligan, all the best for 2024.

This week was a busy one, Maisie competed with the South West Scotland Piping and Drumming Academy at Kilmarnock's William McIlvennay Campus, where they were placed 2nd in there class. A great result for all who competed.

On Wednesday night, she competed in her first Solo competition, a great learning experience for everyone taking part.

Three younger members of the band competed at the Galloway Music Festival in Castle Douglas Primary School this week

They did really well, some of them it was their first time playing in a Solo's competition.

Playing today for the opening of the Salmon fishing season for 2024, the event was organised by the Nith Catchment Fishery Trust, Jim Henderson, and his team.
The opening ceremony was held on Boatford beat near Thornhill by the kind permission of the Millar family.
The chairman of the Nith District Salmon Fishery board, Percy Weatherall, who gave the opening speech, with Colin Smyth MSP, performed the blessing with whisky supplied by Claxton's Whisky.
Let there be tight lines and screaming reels.
