"Tastes like flower floss" is a free-standing installation that I designed this year for Belgravia in Bloom , you can still find it right in front of our shop in Elizabeth Street.
The piece includes 3500 stems of dyed gypsophila and about 75 meters of chicken wire.

Made with Kniphofia, Ammi, Dahlias, Gypsophila, Amaranthus, Choysia, Celosia, and Spirea.

Back in February, I had the amazing opportunity through Moyses Stevens, to do a virtual class for Louis Vuitton clients.

My piece was designed and created to fit inside a Malle Fleurs, a reinterpretation of the flower trunk, an iconic piece created in the 1910s by Louis Vuitton himself for its most prestigious and valued customers.

Today starts the very first Online edition of the Novelties Parade by Royal Flora Holland
Normally held every year at the Trade Fair in Naaldwijk, and for the first time in history, it's available to explore on the web.
I had the honour to see in advance some of their new products and here you can see which are my top 10 of this year special edition :) Enjoy!

1) Lisianthus Exotic Pink from Montana Lisianthus.
Amazing double pink lisianthus with special exotic star-shaped flowers
2)The Desert Rose from Ansu.
A type of Adenium with a thick irregular trunk, it will be sold in a golden bowl.
3) Spotify Pink & Spotify White Lilies from Lilies of Life.
Large flowers, speckles and unscented.
4) Orchid Beer from Optiflor.
No description needed :)
5) Ranunculus Romance Libros from Monarch Flowers.
Very large flowers and what makes this variety so special is that it is the only scented Ranunculus available on the market.
6) The Ranunculus Romance Nohant from Monarch Flowers.
A very beautiful Romance variety with large, salmon-coloured flowers.
7) The Santini Maradona from Funny Santini
Finally, a flower dedicated to Diego, honestly they should have chosen something different, but Maradona is a special Santini, it stands out for its innovative shape. It is a spider and an anemone in one and that is unique!
With its fresh green heart and bright white colour.
8) This is London Bell, the London Eye's sister from Van der Hulst
Available already in limited numbers from early March.
In the beginning, the bud does not yet show what a wonderfully beautiful and large rose it will be when it opens completely. London Bell has an intense warm purple-red colour!
9) Corydalis Porcelain Blue from Van Woudenberg Tuinplanten.
A stunning new variety of Corydalis, with a new intense blue.
10) Abutilon Big Bell from Plantanious
A lovely new type of Abutilon with a big red and yellow flower.

Except for some growers in The Netherlands and Belgium, the vast majority of flowers growers worldwide use rubber bands to bind their produce.
Rubber becomes an inescapable part of our everyday life. You might be surprised at the squeeze its production is putting on tropical forests, especially as the number of uses in the world continues to rise.
Also, crude oil is the primary raw material in synthetic rubber. Approximately 70% of all rubber used today is synthetic.

As of 2020, Kenya has grown to become the world 3rd largest exporter of fresh cut-flowers supplying close to 45% of all flower sales today in Europe.
All the rose growers from Africa and South America are using tonnes of rubber bands every year. With the rise of demand, this practice became another issue to address to achieve a sustainable flower industry.

Currently, there aren't specific initiatives related to this particular problem in our industry.
WWF in 2016 asked the majority of companies that produce and use rubber to commit to sustainably and ethically produced rubber, but nothing else crucial has been carried out since.

I think it's time to address this problem in our industry.

Have you ever heard of the expression "Don't pull a Freesia"?
Neither did I, but apparently, this form of speech comes from the characteristics of the flower.

Freesias are a colourful flower that can be very frustrating to grow. They are known to have vigorous growth early on.
However, the slightest change in the environment will cause them to wilt. The maintenance needed to keep them growing caused Freesias to become known as the princess of the Flower World.

Someone with the name Freesia tends to share many of the same characteristics as the flower.
While they are colourful and opinionated, it can take a lot of coaxing to get them to come out.
It's not uncommon for them to ditch you at the last minute and stay home.

However, jokes aside, the third episode of Blooming Chronicles is out now on my YouTube channel, and this week we are featuring Freesias, a lovely red variety called "Acapulco", from the Dutch grower Kwekerij Duinland
