Happy Saturday and Happy Super Bowl Weekend!
🏈 🎉
We have reached a critical moment in the planning process, so I have a lot of information to share.
Grab a snack, a drink, and a seat….then read on 🤓
Early in this process, I hosted a planning meeting, but only 3 people were able to attend (I know, Covid fears and busy schedules contributed to attendance)… so we decided to use this page as a communication vehicle for planning. If a zoom call works better, I’m willing to do that too, but again… busy schedules prevent attendance on those sometimes. Please let me know if there is a better way to generate parent engagement.
Now, to the good stuff. ⬇️
📊 A survey was sent out this week to Juniors and Seniors to get some of their input about Post Prom. A couple of additional questions were asked of Seniors to get their feedback about the activities they enjoyed most from last year.
⭐️ Over 60% of respondents enjoy the tradition of hosting Post Prom at the [transformed] High School. (~40% day they wouldn’t mind having it at a bowling alley instead).
⭐️ In an open text question, Seniors said they enjoyed the following activities last year and would love to see them return:
👉🏼 TV Game Shows
👉🏼 Prize Raffle
👉🏼 Snacks
👉🏼 Casino Table Games
👉🏼 Palm Reader
👉🏼 Magician/Mime
⭐️ One response said that they wished we could decorate the whole school and have activities throughout. 🤭😳
Prom is 12 weeks away… we are about $7,000 under budget and have only had 14 parents [commit] to helping.
I know it is a lot to ask, from set up Friday evening to working the event on Saturday and clean up in the wee hours of the morning Sunday. I get it. I really do.
But it’s one weekend. And it’s for our kids. And the more people that help with set up and clean up… the less time it takes.
I have seen many parents say that after everything they (and we, as parents!) have been through in the last 2 years of Covid, our students deserve a fun (and “normal”) high school prom/post prom experience. If parents (like you, reading this) believe and agree with that statement, then WE have to make it happen.
As a reminder, this is a $10k (minimum) event and requires a minimum of 50 people to pull it off successfully.
If you are one of the 14 people that have committed and have already been helping…
Thank you!!!
If you are not one of those people, please (I’m actually at the point of begging now) step in and commit to an activity. If I cannot staff the activities, the set up, and the tear down, we cannot give our Juniors and Seniors a Post Prom.
Period.
I will be making a post of open spots, directly after this. 🧐 Please watch for that post and comment / commit to activities you are willing to own 🧐
If you do not care what activity you own, just comment on that post and say, “sign me up anywhere” and I will do it quicker than you can refill your coffee cup after reading this!
Thanks Parents, so much for your help, your consideration to help, and the sacrifices you make for the kids.
