Hello New Grads!
The pinning ceremony is right around the corner, May 27th!
New Grads, please arrive by 11:15am to the front of the UNBC library. Bring a sealed water bottle if you’d like.
For GUESTS, doors open at 11am and the ceremony begins at 12pm. Guests must have their tickets ready at the door, you will not be allowed in without a ticket. Parking is free for the ceremony. Guests must park in the UNBC parking lots, as the NSC parking is reserved for guest speakers and those with mobility concerns. There is reserved seating for those with mobility concerns. Please do not use this seating if you do not require it.
We can’t wait to see you Saturday!

We will be having a Nursing Club Q/A information session April 25th from 2-3:30 pm to discuss what we are, what we do, and answer any questions!

Hello everyone! Spirit of the North is looking for volunteers for Spirit Day on May 11th. Any volunteers who attend the following events can use those hours to apply for the fourth year nursing club bursary, which requires volunteer hours with the nursing club in order to apply for this $1,000 award (your volunteer hours will be saved and tracked until you can apply for the scholarship). They’re looking for groups of people (up to 4 at a time) to volunteer within the hours of 7am -7pm (you don’t need to do the whole 12 hours, however many you can do works!).

They are also looking to get help on June 4th for the Westwood Jammer fundraiser from 11-7pm, 6 volunteers are needed at a time ideally for selling 50/50 tickets and helping with the BBQ

Our second bottle drive is coming up quick! We are having a bottle drive on April 15th from 12-4 at the PG Recycling & Return-It Centre across from Boston Pizza.

Collect as many bags of bottles as you can from your family and friends, or spread the word so your family and friends can drop off their bottles themselves! Anybody can drop off bottles. If this date doesn’t work for you, that’s okay! We have a bottle depot account open all year which is explained in a different post.

Please notify the workers working at the unloading dock that you’re with the UNBC Nursing Club. There will be a sign saying “UNBC Nursing Club” in front of the loading dock for you to leave your bottles.

This is also a scholarship volunteer hours opportunity (and one of the last volunteer options before the scholarship closes). We are looking for house to house bottle drive volunteers to help collect bottles on the day of our bottle drive on April 15th from 12-4! There are no time slots, it’s based on whatever you can do time wise between 12 and 4. We need people with vehicles that can hold a few bags, so they can be dropped off at the bottle depot beside Costco. House to house volunteers will ideally work in partners in whatever region of PG that works best (no fixed locations). Message Nursing Club or Lauren Matheson on Facebook or Instagram if you’d like to sign up for the door to door collection volunteering.

Hi everyone!
We have partnered with the Prince George Cougars Hockey Club and will be doing a Chuck-a-Puck fundraiser at their game next Friday, March 17th!🍀
We're looking for volunteers to help us sell the fundraising pucks during the game! If you're interested, please reach out to Prudente and she can hook you up with all the details, or shoot us a message! 🏒

We also have fundraising tickets available for sale for the March 25th game which is the last game of the season! They are 17$ each (cheaper than usual game tickets). If you or anyone you know is interested in purchasing tickets let us know as well! 😄

Hello Nursing Class of 2023!

As this semester is flying by, we wanted to reach out with some much-anticipated information regarding our pinning ceremony! This ceremony is taking place on May 27th from 12-16:30 in the exact same spot as our convocation will be (Charles Jargo NSC). For this day to be successful, there are a few things we need from our grads to ensure it will run smoothly:

Tickets for the pinning ceremony will be available for purchase from 0900-1400 March 9,10,16,17 in the small meeting space in room 6-397. Tickets will be 75$ (this covers your ticket AND your guests).If you are unable to make it during these times, please Send your fee of 75$ via etransfer to [email protected] by April 1st 2023.

When purchasing tickets, please let members know how many people you will be bringing to the ceremony.
You can bring a maximum of 6 guests to this ceremony. Please let us know how many guests you will be bringing when buying your tickets by April 1st.
If you are grabbing extra from other people, please let us know in person or via email who you are taking those extra tickets from.

Pinning Bio and a Photograph for the slideshow needs to be sent to: [email protected] by April 20th 2023
This Bio has a 50-word limit (if it exceeds the max word limit, it will be shortened)
In the Bio, include who is pinning you and where you will be working in the future
Due to our large class size, the word limit has to be small or we will be there all night!

A photo of you can be any photo of you; it does not have to be a graduation photo

Nursing Caps (the traditional white ones) will be available to order/purchase at the UNBC bookstore along with your grad rental package. These are not required but are optional.
Dress code for the pinning ceremony is formal attire.

Today we rocked the bake sale! We made roughly over $500 from these baked goods 😄

Thank you SO much to everyone who donated money and to everyone who baked and helped sell! We couldn’t do this without you all 💗

Just a few goodies were left over and we donated them to the fire pit organization in downtown PG! It was a great day full of good people.

IMPORTANT CLUB NIGHT INFO BELOW!
Howdy y'all!
Tickets for club night will be available for sale at UNBC in the Wintergarden on Thursday February 23rd and March 2nd from 10am to 2pm, as well as at our bake sale at Canadian Tire on February 28th from 10am to 2pm! You can also message Steph Prudente or DM our Nursing Club page for tickets if you are unable to come to these times!
Tickets are $15 and all the funds go towards our pinning ceremony! Make sure to buy them early as at the door tickets are more expensive and do not go to our fundraising efforts.
Don't like country? No problem! Although we have a boot stompin' western theme, our DJ will be playing a wide variety of music for all tastes!
We'll see y'all at the saloon on March 4th!

After the success of our first bottle drive, we decided to do a second! Details on the poster down below. It will be the exact same as the first bottle drive. Share it on your personal pages, send it to family and friends, get it out there to the public! We went with the date that got the most votes in our previous survey.

We will be looking for door to door collectors again and your hours will go toward scholarship volunteer hours, so if you’d like to commit to doing this (for any time duration you’d like between 12-4), give us a DM! Happy Holidays Everyone!

Our holiday fundraising auction is NOW OPEN at the link below! Bidding will close on January 3rd at 9:30pm. We have lots of amazing items available including gift cards, gift baskets, and ski passes! You will notice that a few of the items are listed as "Buy-it-now" at a set price. These items are available for a limited time (just until Christmas!) to be bought at the listed price. All "buy-it-now" items are available for pickup today, so if you need some epic last-minute gifts this is a great opportunity! Any buy-it-now items not purchased by Christmas Day will be opened for bidding and changed to regular auction items.

The proceeds of this auction will go towards our pinning ceremony in May. The pinning ceremony is a longstanding tradition in the nursing profession as a way to welcome new graduates into the field. Any leftover funds from our fundraising efforts are put towards donations to local charities as well as a bursary for new grad nurses at UNBC!
