A valuable reminder to motorists 🙏

ATTENTION MOTORISTS: we start the week with an important plea to slow down and reflect about what is truly important in life. We ask that when you see a funeral procession, please slow down and show consideration for the life we are honouring. As funeral directors, we see frustrating acts of impatience on our roads on a daily basis. Too often, cars speed up, overtake, pull out or merge between the hearse and mourning coaches, disrupting the solemnity of the funeral procession and breaking that important line of sight between the deceased and their loved ones. This is a societal trend far removed from the traditions of the past and it needs to be challenged! So please, slow down and allow the family to travel together in peace. Recognise the significance of death and our valued role in respecting those who have died and those who are grieving. And if you are responsible for teaching learner drivers, please share this plea to ensure the respect for the tradition of a cortege can continue for future generations.

Let’s bring back respect and dignity to our roads.

My Saturday morning has been talking about love! One of my favourite subjects ❤️ I met my March 2025 couple and talked about their love story! Each love story is unique and beautiful and not without humour… I am so incredibly lucky as I get to see the eyes well up with tears as my couple retell about their engagement and look into each other’s eyes with such love. Gets me in the heart every time. I love my job and all things love!!

I am also a funeral celebrant. I have the honour and privilege of helping people say goodbye to their loved one, when they are vulnerable and grieving.

the best medicine you can bring for sadness is not joy. it is not telling them that they need to move on or get over it or realise how much worse things could be. no. the medicine for a spirit in mourning is tenderness. and warmth. and compassion. and connection. and presence. sit with someone in their grief and let them cry their ugly tears. do not shine and scurry grief away. they must walk through it. this is love. to abandon all that we think we know and be so full of grace that we are invited in to partake in someone else's darkest moments. what an honour it is to simply be a light. the antidote for sadness is love. it is always love.
