It is wise to Fear God, Parents & those in authority.
"fear of the Lord" encompasses more than simple fear. ... In Proverbs 15:33, the fear of the Lord is described as the "discipline" or "instruction" of wisdom.
Father and mothers who teach their children to honour their authority given to them by God will raise children to obey others in authority including God.
Romans 13:1-2 says: "Obey the government, for God is the One who has put it there. There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. So those who refuse to obey the law of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow."
We should seek to honor our parents in much the same way that we strive to bring glory to God, in our thoughts, words, and actions.
Exodus 20:12 NASB20 — “Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be prolonged on the land which the LORD your God gives you.
For a young child, obeying parents goes hand in hand with honoring them. That includes listening, heeding, and submitting to their authority.
Ephesians 6:1-3 NIV — Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
Bad children will have a "depraved mind" and those who exhibit ungodliness in the last days are characterized by disobedience to parents. Romans 1:30 NASB20 — slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 2 Timothy 3:2 NASB20 — For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
God will not honor those who will not obey His command to honor their parents. Colossians 3:20 NIV — "Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord." Throughout the ancient world (including under Old Testament law, Deut 21:18-21), minor children were expected to obey their parents.
