As you know, I’ve been renewing my love for local playgroups. Offering that bit of respite with like minded Mums, in a safe space where your little one can roam and explore freely, with a coffee and cake thrown in, what’s not to love?!

A friend recently suggested that we visit the new .StayAndPlay in Woking and I’m glad we went! Providing child-led learning-through-play sessions, promoting natural curiosity and encouraging play, creativity, social skills and confidence. The vast room has a variety of play such as role play, sensory and physical play. There’s lots for little ones to interact and immerse themselves with which is great to see! Also I feel the need to note that the resources are very aesthetically pleasing / are of very decent quality (read: wooden and pretty).

The Playroom has plenty of seating, hot drinks and cakes. I was a little in love with the milk frother which made my morning coffee that little bit more fancy (because I’m worth it 😉) The cakes were very tasty too, most of them lost to the little ones who decided one slice just wasn’t enough.

📍Community Centre, 65 Sundridge Road, Old Woking, GU22 9AT
🚘 Free parking outside
🎟️ Adult £3, child 1+ £9, 3-12 months £5, under 3 £2, sibling £6.30.
👧 Ages 5 and under
⏰ Fridays, 10am-11:30am
📝 Bring spare clothes in case of messy play

With a month to go until Mothering Sunday, I thought it would be nice to put together a post to see what’s being offered in some of our favourite Surrey restaurants.

So if you fancy saying it with food (a roast especially), or if you love a family meal out rather than in, use this round up for some inspiration / to inspire your loved ones.

Does anywhere stand out to you or is there a restaurant you’d like to share? Let me know in the comments below 👇

Have you taken a visit to ?

For half term they are running a “Magic of Locomotion” event with spellbinding magicians, both on board and at the Old Goods Shed. The magic on board was fantastic, it definitely stunned my three into silence, but it was the STEM based tricks at the station that really stood out. The kids in the audience were fascinated by the whole show, it was the best science lesson full of theatrics and interesting anecdotes (I wish it
had been longer!)

I personally love the old world charm of steam trains, made even better when combined with the scenery of the South Downs National Park. The kids enjoyed watching the train turnout halfway through our journey, the on board activity sheets went down a treat too.

You can grab a great meal at the West Country Buffet and whilst you’re in there, children can enjoy pottery painting at £8pp. Don’t forget to experience the brake van rides as well!

📍 Alresford, Hampshire
🚘 Car Park £4.20
🚂 Depart 11am, 1pm & 3pm and Alton at 12pm & 2pm
🪄 Magic shows 10.15am, 11.35am, 12.35pm & 2.35pm
🎟️ Family ticket £36.35 (one adult) or £59.85 (two adults) in advance.

Upcoming events:
🐰 Easter Bunny train, 29/3 - 1/4
🚂 Day out with Thomas, 25/5 - 2/6
🧙‍♀️ Wizard Week, 26/10 - 3/11

Want to know what got a big thumbs up from my three for half term? ’s Polesdenopoly!

Running for half term week (10th-18th Feb, 10-3pm) this event will see you fully engaging in lots of fun activities to gain money and to snap up as many properties as possible!

Teams are a max of 5 Players, with one player as the banker. As you move around Polesden Lacey you will encounter property and frivolities boards. Pick a playing piece for each board’s task (or choose one for the duration of the game as we did) where you will be asked to complete individual goals to gain money. For this you will need to leave some of your inhibitions behind and just give in to the silliness. You could be putting on a music recital, performing a poem, acting like an animal, or knocking down skittles.

Face off your family and friends to become the ultimate property tycoon (inspired by Mrs Greville), and enjoy the site and the play areas too. It costs £5 per game but don’t forget to bring your wellies with you!

📍 Polesden Lacey, Great Bookham
🎟️ £5 per group (max 5), non member family entry from £37.50
🕰️ Running until 18th Feb

If you have a Pokemon / Lorcana / football card collector then they will love at . They can trade, play, browse and shop with other visitors and vendors (there’s a lot of them!)

The kids zone hosts activities throughout the day such as designing your own cards (ours enjoyed designing their own pokemon characters), battling, trading and box breaks, alongside drawing.

If the kids are tall enough then they can also try the free immersive racing VR simulation, as well as the free Photo Booth (with videos that you can airdrop), see Hector the Collector, meet the Lorcana card artists and learn to play the game too - amongst other activities (check out the main stage too).

🕰️ The London Card Show is at Sandown today (Sunday) and is returning on 11th and 12th May.
🎟️ Family admission is £31.50

Have you been to ?!

I visited earlier this week to celebrate their first birthday 🎈 and they threw a fab, fab party!

Their venue in Byfleet is easy to get to (parking out front, side roads and in the playground) and there is so much for little ones to enjoy inside. Parties aside, there’s a two story climbing frame, a baby area for under one’s, a pretend play room, and a great cafe. It’s the perfect size to keep kids entertained and for you to be able to properly catch up with friends or family.

Back to the celebrations though, little ones got to enjoy biscuit decorating, balloon animals, singing, dancing, a fancy dress competition, leaving with a party bag. The kids clearly had a blast and it was a good opportunity for parents to chill out and catch up (unless yours were trying to sneak-eat all the biscuit decorations like the child with me was - don’t blame them though 🤣)

🕰️ 9:30-4pm mid week, 8:45-12 weekends
⏰ Sessions are 2 hours
📍 15 High Road, Byfleet
🎟️ Over 1’s (with adult) £6.50, 3 months £4.50, additional adult £2.50

Have you been to ?!

This multi story venue is jampacked with an incredible variety of activities for both children and adults, along with some pretty delicious food!!! If you’re wondering whether to visit, then let me share my experiences of the activities we booked with you:

🏎️ E-Karting. We booked in to ride these electric carts for a family session. Our eldest could ride by herself as she was over eight, the younger two got to be our passengers (for those 3+). We all loved it, but if you’re looking for the thrill of the chase, then you won’t find it during this particular session! Well worth booking and prices start from £13.95 pp, lasting 8 mins.

🐦 .Gamebox. These private rooms have projection mapping, touch screens, motion tracking and surround sound. With a variety of games to choose from, (starting from ages 3+) our game of choice was Angry Birds. The touchscreen aspect didn’t work for us so we couldn’t fire our birds properly (us competitive 😳 never 🤣). We did ask for help and had our room moved but we didn’t get the session time back so I’m not sure I would recommend this which is a shame! From £13/£18pp.

⛳️ Urban Street Golf - the holes are themed in the style of New York City streets, there is an app that also tracks your mini indoor golf game and offers tips for play. This was fun but tricky - the kids enjoyed it and didn’t get frustrated which is ultimately a big win! Well worth a go, from £8.95pp.

You can also enjoy:

🎯 AR Digital darts, £19.95 for up to 6
🎳 AR bowling, from £8.95pp
🎮 Esports, gaming rooms, from £7
🥽 Hologate VR, from £9.95pp
🌟 Shuffleboard from £5pp
🤩 Fun Box Arcade

🚘 Parking available at NCP Wandsworth Southside 2
🎟️ 50% off a second booked activity

Did you know that half term is 2 weeks today?! Madness isn’t it, feels like they only just went back to school!!

Well hopefully this round up of what’s on, in and around Surrey, helps! I am yet to book anything in myself but I now have a head full of ideas, so I hope that this list inspires you too (do feel free to share with others!)

Let me know if I’ve missed anything or what you’ve booked so far…

We’ve had some great playgroup chat on stories so I wanted to share one that I recently went to - the newly opened .Playgroups in Englefield Green, run by Rachel (a qualified teacher with over 12 years of experience).

This child-led, multi sensory play and learning session provided so much fun and stimulation to all the preschool children when I visited. It meant that parents could connect with one another whilst their little ones were fully immersed in the exciting activities around them. The little one with me was fascinated by each zone and loved engaging with everything on offer. They didn’t want to leave, it was perfect for their curious little mind!

There was a mini music session at the end of the group which was a nice way to round things off. Each week there are new themes and activities so plenty to look forward to! You can pop back into the Village Centre afterwards for a bite of something from the cafe, or to carry on chatting whilst letting your littles play in the mini play area.

🕰️ Tuesdays 9:30 - 10:45
📍 68 Victoria St, Englefield Green
🎟️ £7 a child, £3 sibling

We were really excited when , opened their doors in centre in Walton just before Christmas. It’s a great addition to Surrey, catering to children of all ages (including adults!).

For rock climbers, their time begins with a safety talk where harnesses are fitted, before joining the climbing arena to take on the wall challenges and build their confidence, taking it at their own pace. With new ways to climb at each visit, walls sitting at 8m high, ranging from novice to expert, there’s lots of fun to be had!

For littler ones there is a really good soft play with three levels, perfect to help them avoid any FOMO as others climb around them, giving them the chance to burn off some of their energy too!

In between the climbing frames and the soft play is a café where you can fuel up, refuel or watch the climbing whilst you sip a coffee. We visited at the weekend when it was quite busy, but we found ourselves a table OK. It was really nice to be able to watch my older two as they enjoyed climbing, whilst also having a giggle in the soft play with my youngest.

I will absolutely be going back again, thank you for providing some great entertainment Rock Up!

🌟 There is 15% off softplay until end of January with code SOFTPLAY15.
🚘 Parking in the Heart shopping centre
🎟️ Soft play from £5.75, toddler climb £12.75 (in the mornings), family pass £59, standard climb £16.25.
⭐️ Autism and SEN friendly sessions £14.75, Monday evenings.
⏰ 30 mins safety briefing, 55 mins in the climbing arena, 5 mins to remove harness
🥳 Parties from £172.50
💰 Climb for £9 on Wednesdays

Last weekend, we got our skates on at Hampton Court, followed by fun at the Festive Fayre.

offers a beautiful view of the palace, complete with a Christmas tree on the ice, making it a wonderfully festive, wintry activity. For an additional cost you can book penguin aids which we chose to do. They gave my kids a confidence boost and me peace of mind knowing they had the additional support. My advice would be to get the kids in waterproofs for this though as the rink was wet so it could leave them feeling cold if they do slip.

We reserved a table that overlooked the ice rink afterwards, the money used for booking can be used against food and drink purchases. The mince pies and hot drinks went down a treat, but the sandwiches were a bit off the mark. If they have charcuterie boards available then I reckon these would be a good order!

The fayre was absolutely huge with tons of great, small independent businesses spread throughout the grounds. We sampled lots of delicious produce and discovered new businesses, leaving with Christmas presents for the trickier to buy for family members (total win!) My kids were most happy about the pickle juice they picked up that day, go figure!!

🕰️ Running until 7th Jan
🚘 We parked onsite, otherwise there is the train station or Hampton Court Green.
⏰ Sessions last 45 mins, get there 20 mins early to sort skates as some are broken
🎟️ Peak adult £21, Child aged 3-12years £15.50, Family £58
🐧 Skating aid £5pp, helmets are free
💴 Reserve a table for £20
💰 10% of ticket sales go to Cash for Kids Mission Christmas

Fancy a festive low key activity, ’s Fairytale Christmas would be my recommendation to you!

Until 7th January, immerse yourself in a fairytale trail filled with scenes from classical books. Build houses with the Three Little Pigs, put stained glass windows back together for Beauty and The Beast and play naughts and crosses with Peter Pan amongst other activities! It’s a great way to keep the kids entertained outdoors and you might find yourselves enjoying it for longer than you think! Throw in the normal play areas too and you’ll more than fill your quota of fresh air! For £3 per child you can also get a booklet and pen for the trail.

To top off the outdoor fun you can also take a ride on the carousel for £3pp which is situated just in front of the house. I think you also owe it to yourself to grab a treat from the at this point, well earned after all that walking 😜

Lastly take a tour of the house which is beautifully decorated for Christmas! It’s also filled with scenes from fairytales in a very clever manner. My favourites were Sleeping Beauty’s room, the book tree and the little flying visit from Tinkerbell.

I did also see Father Christmas which I believe has sold out? The experience was brilliantly done with great actors.

Will you be visiting this Christmas?

The biscuits are handmade in North London, they have a shelf life of 90 days unpainted, so ordering now is perfect for Christmas.

If you’re looking for a Father Christmas experience with a difference then why not book in breakfast with him at ?

We visited yesterday and we loved how personal and relaxed it was. My kids enjoyed the crafts and playing games with the Elves, whilst Mummy and Daddy enjoyed a nice coffee. The food was so yummy and my son has never eaten so much breakfast while talking to Santa and his helpers. I think he is hoping to be on the good list this year 😍 Don’t forget to check out the great Christmas decorations in store too!

📍 Dobbies Breakfasts run across 68 stores in the U.K., we visited Dobbies Woodcote Green, Wallington.
🍳 Enjoy a cooked breakfast with veggie options, served with a hot or cold drink
💰 Cost per child is £13.99, adults from £8.60, inclusive of meal and child’s gift
🧒 Suitable for 3-10 years although my daughter (who is younger) enjoyed it too.
🎄 Enjoy activities & sing along to Xmas classics too!

Have you visited Dobbies before?
