Another year, another August Bank Holiday special with The Jersey Funk All-Stars Band on our beloved terrace of the Watersplash. The weather is with us today and the wind will die down and is already not as strong as the days before.
The line up is as follows: Robbie Dark 2 to 3.30 / Sophie Kilpatrick on the wax detail 3.30 to 5 / Dj Niffty on the 1s and 2s showcasing his turntablists and musical ecclectism from 5 to 6.30pm / David Gaspar and Dj Stefunk - Stefan Rousseau going B2B until the sunset.

And this week, we are very lucky to be joined at a moment or another by the amazing and super talented Olivia Queenie Stokes on the vocals and Naomi West on the flute to enhance your musical experience and give it a unique flavour.

Expect some Funky/Groovy/Jazzy tunes all afternoon long with a special The Jersey Funk All-Stars Band unique twist for your pleasure and enjoyment. Pass the word around, bring on your dancing shoes, and see you at one of, if not the best location I ever played at in 32 years of Djing. All hail Watersplash Jersey and thank you Piers Dupoy for continuing the tradition of those magic Sundays and Bank Holidays music sessions by the ocean.

Today I am back Djing for the terrace of the Troubadour on Sundays as when I started my professional Dj career 10 years ago. A form of full circle. This weekend looks like a really sunny one and I have an exotic groovy tunes program lined up for you. Friday with Carlo Zen for our Jersey Funk All-Stars only old-school tunes regular night in Krafty J's. And on Sunday, I return to the Troubadour for the first of hopefully many Groovy Sunday sessions (after a 10-year hiatus 🤣. The Jersey Funk All-Stars Band is back on the amazing terrace of the Watersplash Jersey for an afternoon and early evening of happy, groovy, and funky beats from all the spectrum of genres from Reggae, to old skool and remixes/edits rare tunes and classics by way of hip-hop, breaks, house and even maybe DNB. Anything goes as long as it makes all of us move.

As usual, we'll have different Djs (possibly on vinyl) and hopefully musicians with us too if the weather decides to be on our side for this one.

This Sunday will be the last of the 2023 Groovy Sundays. My special guest will be the mighty Peaky Dj aka Marshall for one his special sets filled with Funk and Soul. And we'll play together in our North VS South spirit as we have done for a few years now. The weather will be stunning so do some BYO action and join us to send off the last of these events in style and start the new month with a big smile on.

Tomorrow will be another stunning day and another edition of Groovy Sundays at Howard Davis Park. The 4th one already and we have only two more to go after this one, for 2023 anyway. Please share this around and join us for an alternative to the overcrowded beaches and bars, with an amazing soundtrack of original beats and classy edits with the return of Robbie Dark on the decks for a soul "rare grooves" special set. We will start around 5pm and you can bring your cover and picnic to enjoy a taste of the best of what Jersey has to offer with hopefully an amazing sunset to accompany us.

The weather will improve later on and this is not a little drizzle and light winds which will stop us from performing this afternoon at the bandstand. You are not going to a muddy festival this summer and regret it, put your wellies on and join us or simply come barefoot and dance in wet grass. The music will be exotic, summer like and here to make you forget about this not-so-great weather summer, and enjoy it for what it is with the best soundtrack possible. Every Sunday from this weekend on July 30th, Dj Stefunk and The Jersey Funk All-Stars will play their unique blend of music from all eras and all over the world from 5 to 9pm at the Howard Davis Park Band Stand.

Latin, Afro, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Cuban, Reggae, Ska, Brasilian, all original and edits but will stay away from electronic music generally to offer something different and for all to enjoy.

Bring your own picnic and floor covers as well as your dancing to make the most of these weekly events offered to you in partnership with the GOJ and its Creative Spaces initiative as well as the Parks of Jersey and their "director", the amazing Bruce Labbey without whom none of this would have happened.

This will be outside of the commercial venues (and the common alcohol-fuelled events), outside of the commercial music loop, by and for the local public and tourists, and offering something different for your musical enjoyment, enlightenment, and discovery.

So this is for everybody outside of the classic party/nightlife sector and will appeal to all ages and communities. So please pass the word around and let's all make our Sunday afternoon/early evening ones to celebrate the weekends we just lived as well as the summer while getting some culture and arts.
