I think it’s interesting to see the purpose of our farm flowers come to fruition. These celosia were planted a few months ago by me and . They endured the heat and drought, and today they were harvested to fulfill their purpose in a final tribute for someone’s father.

Isn’t it kind of crazy the expectations we place on flowers? To honor a life, to bring comfort, to celebrate, to express love and thanksgiving…. They handle it all with such beauty and grace.

Even though it’s a short week, it’s exhausting. When teaching I would always say, “There is no tired like the first-week-of-school-tired”.

Y’all drop by the shop and visit tomorrow. I’ll try not to rub it in that I’m no longer teaching. 🤷🏻‍♀️ J/K. It’s going to be a great year!!

These wild and crazy zinnias have what I call “Stacy Stems”.

When I first began the flower farm in 2019, one customer LOVED flowers with crazy stems. So when I would harvest flowers that had fallen over or were otherwise un-usable, I would say to myself, “There’s a Stacy Stem”, and I would put it aside for her bouquet.

What began as a common love of flowers has evolved into a wonderful friendship. She was instrumental in the opening of the shop, even enlisting her husband to build window boxes! She makes the trek with me to Dallas Market and we laugh about our opposing taste in products. We stay with my family while there and she has quickly become adopted into it. She starts seedlings in her greenhouse for our farm, and she shows up at the shop when I think I’ve got it covered, but I don’t. And often times she shows up with food!!

I’m so grateful Stacy appreciates, loves and finds beauty in the dysfunctional and imperfect. Because of this, I scored a pretty great friend.
