Are you a "Moonlighter"? Do you have to work into the night or start very early in order to produce your products? I find myself working this morning and it's just past midnight. I am working processing flowers because by yesterday afternoon I was too exhausted to do the work. Usually, though I get up at about 3:00 a.m. drink some coffee and go to work designing flowers for the hospital gift shop. I like them to be made that day so they are the freshest possible, but mostly I just enjoy working in the night when the phone isn't ringing and I can play my favorite music and enjoy the flowers.

So what is involved in designing wedding flowers? Sometimes brides just look at the price and think how can it be so expensive? Well first I have to order and pay for the flowers. I have to know the best sources for those flowers and then I have to worry about them arriving in less than expected condition. I have to worry about them getting lost and stranded due to weather at an airport.
Once they arrived I have to inspect them for quality and process them so that they will last through whatever weather conditions may exist on the day of the wedding. That might be 14 degrees or 110 degrees.
Once they are conditioned they need to be cooled down and allowed time to develop to their best beauty.
And then I begin to design with them and sometimes don't like my design and have to redesign!
Here is the start of today's wedding work for a wedding tomorrow.
High tomorrow is 14 degrees. I will add more to this post as the wedding begins to come together but hopefully that will give some insight into what is involved for florist designing wedding flowers.
